Which street slick ?
Which street slick ?
Ok, going to buy a set of street type slicks.
What do you think of the Goodrich Drag Radials in the
255 x 55 x 16".
They are less expensive than the M/T e/t"S and do not require
tubes.
Will mount on a 16 X 8 steel wheel.
Need some opinions please.

Alot of Lightnings around here are using the E.T Streets with most of them being happy with them,i have tried them along with the nitto drag radial and the bfg drag radial and i prefer the drag radials over the E.T Streets on my truck.I have tested these tires 2 different times at the track against each other with other L owners there watching me run slower everytime on E.T time and MPH with the streets on.In my opinion if i was running a aftermarket convertor on my truck i would consider the streets again but without one i will stay with the drag radials!

One more question. What rpm do you lauch best at with the
bfg drag radial. MY drive line is and will stay stock, no convertors
or gear changes
Thanks again

Marc,
I leave at idle and apply about half throttle at the start till truck starts moving then i floor it for best 60ft. times. If i do a full throttle launch from start i will get horrible 60ft.times! I believe it varies from truck to truck on launching techniques.

interesting !!!!!!
Last nights action: left at 1100 rpm ( on brake) 2.027
left at 1200 rpm (on brake) 2.051
left at 1300 rpm (on brake) 2.077
can't remember cause I got caught sleeping
somewhere off idle (on brake) 2.149
DO I DETECT SOMETHING HERE ???
MY BEST EVER 60 FT. WAS 2.001 (JUST OFF IDLE )
I guess I just don't want to get burned and make us "L" owners
look bad so I have a desire to get the rpm up while staged.
I am picking up a set of BFG drags tonight, so maybe this will make me settle down before the launch knowing I should get
out a little better.
I used to run about 25 years ago and things were a little different
back then. Bad habits are hard to break you know.

My 17x11 inch rims came in the other day so I had the 315/35/17 BFG radial drags mounted up. I will be testing them out at the Fun Ford Weekend at Epping, NH this Saturday and Sunday, I will let you know how they hook. What do the people that use Drag Radial use for tire pressure, and is there any best way of heating them up?
hdmlnium, you have a billit fuel door? Where did you get it, how much, was it easy to install, & do you have a picture you can post!? Thx Yoda

BFG drag radials are absolutely worthless. I took mine off and threw them away after four runs because I didn't know anyone I hated enough to try to give them to. MT ET STREETS 26x 11.5r16. it's amazing that this has been covered hundreds of times and yet when you do a search for slick you only find six threads in the last two weeks. HEY WEBMASSTER WHAT IS WORNG WITH THE SEARCH ENGINE. ITS WORTHLESS.

My son ran 12.33 at 110 this weekend on a set of Drag Radials. You need to cure them properly if they are going to work properly. We feel that his car has 11's in it easily.
Beater 71' Chevelle. Just ask the other L owners who attended Carlsbad. It was a pretty good run.

I have run both the Drag Radials and the ET Streets on our 99 test truck. I started out with the Nitto Extreme Drags, because they work better than the BFGs by a large margin. I used the 245/60-16s on the same 8 inch rims I still use today. I was not happy on my first outing, but like all drag radials, they need to be beat up a bit before they come on. After about 10 passes, they started working well. I had my best 60fts with about 22psi and heating them REALLY good. At the time, the best 60ft with them was a 1.88. When I switched to the ET Streets, my best 60ft with the same combination was also a 1.88, BUT the ET streets hooked everytime, where as the drag radials worked sometimes and not other times. When they hooked, they hooked good. But they didn't hook all the time. My opinion, if you are going to use them for hard drag race launches, go with the ET Streets.
Sal, I agree with you. I think that the ET Street is a better and more consistant drag racing tire. If you have to drive to the track, which we do, the drag radial is a better choice. The ET Streets can be a little dicy on public roads.

Right Jay, I agree 100%. If you are looking for a tire to DRIVE to the track on, get the drag radial. I've experianced getting caught in rain with the ET streets, and spinning around to see the opposite direction of the lane you are in, is scary ****.
OK OK OK !!!!
I have positively, absolutely ,decided on the M/T E/T 26x11.5x16
on 10 X 16 outlaws.
Now, do I use tubes, or not. Several different opinions and most
of you guys here have been running the "L" longer than I have
owned mine. Please hurry with your answer as I have to stop
at Summit tonight on way home and pick up tires and I must know.
Thanks again
