Question 2001 cobra vs 2001 Lightning?

OK, my friend has a 2001 cobra he picked up this April. I have a 2001 Lightning that's a couple of weeks old. He lives in OK and I may be traveling up there this weekend. Stock for stock, who should win? He is a terrible driver and babies his car but insists on racing and then switching vehicles and racing again. Let me know...

I've got my money on the Lightning

Both times. My truck is pretty damn easy to launch, and when my racing buddies get a new part, they come to me to test it out.

Why? Can you say 4 trips down the track in no more than 10 minutes, all within .05 of eachother? My best time was achieved that way too!

Got to go with the Lightning

Because with the Cobra so much depends on the driver. With good drivers it should be very close. Let us know how it turns out.

dude, You are going to destroy that 01 Cobra. Have you ever test driven one? Now I know why they call them SLOWBRAS. They where getting their asses stomped at the track this weekend by this 01. On average by .5. I would just lay off the throttle alittle bit and save your fresh engine the wear.

If he can't drive, no worries. If he can, you better get the jump.

It's amazing how people will dismiss a car becuase they saw someone who can't drive. I do believe MM&FF tested both and they were only a few hundreths off (13.31 to 13.34). There's been quite few who have run 13.50's -13.60 stock. Same to be said for the L.

I have to agree with those who say it all depends on the driver. In your case, since he sucks, you will win easily. Also depends on how far you race. 0-60, 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, 130 mph, etc. The L's strongest point is how awesome it is from the 0 to the top of 2nd gear.
