dissecting the 1/4 mile

Forgive me for being naive, but would someone please explain what the different aspects of the quarter mile figures represent (i.e. 60 ft. times, ET, speed, etc.). For instance, what does a high speed relative to a slow ET mean? What is up with the 60 ft. times? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Dave

yeesh! That's a loaded question... I'm sure there's sites out there that have more info related to 1/4 mile times and the likes...

I know for certain, a high ET (slow time) and high mph usually relates to too much hosepower/torque and too little traction (60' times are going to be higher in this respect, that's where you'll see how much traction is being had.)... Now that's just for those who are on the gas the whole way...
