Well here's better pic for those nonbelievers. One questions I have is, What does it take to remove these and install new ones.

Can you remove them with out looking like it was in a wreck or not?

Plus could these have been changed out while on transporter in in transit?

Truck was dropped on Monday night at dealership. I saw it inperson at 2 pm Tuesday Aug. 14, 2001.

changing them out is easy!
pop the hood... you'll see 2 black handles above each headlight..
pull up on both of them, then pull out headlight.
thats all there is to it...

 

Does the front grille on a 2001 Lightning have those vertical "slats"? I was under the impression that it didn't. Any comments from other "real" (sorry) 2001 owners?

And you're definitely getting hosed on those headlights if you do like the 2001 style...because 2001 style those aren't.

Call me crazy ("What eva happened ta 'crazy'?"- Chris Rock), but could this supposed "2001 Lightning" the dealership is trying to shaft him on really be a 2000 or newer F150 Sport or something...done up to look like a Lightning? Have you looked under the hood (in all seriousness)?

where did you buy it , I would not accept delivery on anything you do not think is correct. If the dealer is replacing them I would let them install them anyhow. They could always come back and say that is the way you accepted it , kinda sounds like the dealers really doesn't have a clue.

Everyone can you tell the "grille" and "headlight" differences, yet? LoL! The first pic is from an '01 (Gen 2 v2.0), and your 2nd pic is from an '99 or an '00 (Gen2 v1.0). Why you on here to start crap?

I dont know what kind of grill that is in that pic but from the looks of it i dont think its a 2001 grill. I just put the 2001 grill on my 00 and that grill in that pic looks nothing like it. Those corners are definatly 01 but the headlights arent. I put the 01 heads and corners on my truck to and anyone that has the 2001 lights know that they are clear and have like white lines going across them and as you can see in that pic the corners have the white lines but not the head so i have no idea NC SVT F150 what that pic is of all i know is from that view that doesn't look like a 2001 grill and doesnt even look like a 2000 honeycomb grill. The corners are 01 but the heads arent.

By the looks of that picture you should be pissed at us 99 and 00 owners for buying up all the grilles too! Why don't you get a picture of the trucks engine compartment, front end, back end, and passenger side. Make sure you get some pics that fill the picture with the entire truck. If anybody knows, Its US!

BfB- I don't think the second picture is even from a 99 or 00 Lightning (honeycomb grille)...his pic looks like a vertical grid grille...like on some standard pickups I think.

DOn't know what he is smoking, but I also can see the 2000 grill in the first pic and they look like the Crystal eyes kit , the second , I don't know what it is but they are 2k1 corners. I think he should stop whinning and settle it with the dealer and stop blaming the users. I for 1 would not accept anything other than OEM if I just popped down 32k.

didn't know i had made that mistake. to save space on this board i cut area of photo to save on download time some of us live where we cant get cable or dsl so give us a brake.

After finding out how easy they coud be to change from clonetek maybe they got swapped out in transit

if this is the kind of responce that comes up on this stuff i guess all the other post from others on any items have no truth to them either.

recieved letter from dealer on ording parts but i guess if i post it everyone will say i typed it up myself.
I will get a copy of the work order when the work is complete.
