Bad seat cushion....
Bad seat cushion....
I know there used to be tons of posts on this (I read most of 'em a while back), but I've searched and can't find them anymore. I just developed the problem and wanted to know what you guys did to fix the problem with the metal bar under the seat cushion from coming through the seat cushion again. Did Ford replace the whole seat, just the cushion, or the cushion and seat cover??? I seem to remember people wrapping the bar, but I can't remember.
Thanks for any help,
Roger

the dealership was gonna replace the bottom seat cover, foam, and bottom frame..
they sublet out interior work like that, so i picked up the parts & took them to the trim shop..
i asked the owner to let me help them figure out a way to fix it for good.. he agreed to let me help.
we took everything apart and saw the bottom seat frame was exactly the same, so we didnt use it.
we took a scrap piece of carpet and glued it into the slot on the cushon that the side bolster bar from the seat frame fits in.
this would keep the bar from poking up thru the foam.
we then wrapped the bolster bar with felt & a scrap piece of edge molding (soft rubber) and held it in place with hog rings.
then we put it all back together & its been fine ever since.
its just a little harder on that side now, but i dont care, because the seat doesnt get crushed down when i get in and out.
also- we checked the passenger side, and found that it was starting to go into the foam.. (i don't have many passengers)
so, we did the same to fix it.
both sides are going to be affected.. it just depends on how many people you have getting in on the passenger side.

FWIW, i replaced the seat foam on my truck, albeit on a different seat. It took about 5 mins and cost about $40cdn. just ordered replacement foam from the stealership.
I had the steel bar coming through at the back of the seat after 70k kms, and now it's like brand new.

I have this same problem on the upright portion of the drivers seat. The metal piece is sticking out just enough to jab me in the left side of my ribs each time I bump it - it's getting annoying. Has anyone else ever had the problem in this portion of the seat before? All other areas of the seats are fine.

Thank you. Is this something that is under warranty, or will they just laugh at me?
How exactly does this portion come apart? Does the seat cover just lift off the frame, or do they have to separate the seams?
Thanks guys.
