Autometer Gauges

Yes I did a search - only 4 threads showed up, and none answered my ?

Can anyone recommend a distributor for the Autometer Phantom gauges. I called Autometer, and they do not sell direct to the public!!! They gave me the numbers of two local distributors, however, it turns out that they are both out of business. Also, from what I have read, the general consensus seems to be the following gauges: (a) Boost (b) Water Temperature (c) Oil Temperature. Does anyone have any other suggestions for the gauges??

Thanks,

Dave

If you want the Autometer Phantom guages, then Summit Racing is your best bet. However, if you want quality gauges I would suggest looking at the HKS, and Greddy pieces. They may cost significantly more but they are accurate AND reliable unlike Autometer. As for which guages to use, I would suggest the fuel pressure, boost, and water temperature guages

If you're going to get the autoeter gauges wait until they come out with the Lunar style in a month or so. They'll look exactly like our gauges-electroilluminecent(I don't know how to spell)

Well, I don't know why people want to do a boost guage. They are both worthless and meaningless. They put it in place of a volt meter which would be far more useful. Also the factory water temp and oil pressure don't tell you much. The Summit catolog prices on the autometer guages are hard to beat.
The new Lunar gauges, if they come out this time, will look like the factory guages at nite. You might want to wait.

I just got mine from Summit. I got the air/fuel, boost, and voltmeter. It is going into a lo-tek triple pod.

Who needs gauges or a rear-view mirror for that matter!

J/K. Air/Fuel guages are worthless too because of their inaccuracy.

Boost, Fuel pressure, and NITROUS!

Also in the works with the expedition center console will be a water tempature before and after intercooler.

I wish I had room for allot more gauges too!

I think you nailed it right, boost, oil pressure and water temp. The oh so accurate for guages leave a bit to be desired.I like know my exact oil pressure and temperature, the boost guage was just a kicker. They look nice and are functional.

I think boost is definetly a gauge you need. The factory gauge is surely inaccurate, and maxes at 10lbs. If you do a pulley/intercooler/air filter change, you want to know exactly how much boost your S/C is putting out. This is what you would need an aftermarket boost gauge... something with a peak/hold would be nice as well.
