5# lower pulley?

Just came across this site...

Looks like the guys at www.speedworx.com is working on a 5# lower pulley. Isn't this going overboard?

I don't know if I need a 5# pulley, but I gotta have a set of those $700.00 carbon fiber valvecovers.

the 13lbs isnt an "extra" 13lbs, they are just getting up to 13lbs with the pulleys installed

Carbon fiber valve covers are over rated. They look cool, but leak and have no baffles in the breathers. Come to think of it, they didn't have breather holes. I had to add them.

I had them on my shelby Cobra Replica, and took them off for major rework. I need to remachine he mating surface and add baffles.

I guess you can get the same end result as the 5# pulley, by adding both JL lower and upper pulley.

Yes you could get the same result from both of the JL pulleys, but look at it this way.

with the 5# lower pulley, you would have allot less slipage on the belts and pulleys.

I hope they make this pulley cause this would be BAD!!!

I'm pretty sure anyone who is interested in a 3#,4#,5#, ect.. lower pulley can just call ASP and have them make one for you.

As Incon stated, custom sizes can be made. I have done a few "larger that what we sell" sizes for some customers, as well as testing larger sizes in our R&D of the lower pulley, and we chose the current size because anything larger we tested caused a lot of excessive heat. It can be compensated for, but we chose not to sell the larger sizes as a "bolt on and go" part. But like I said, for those who want larger sizes, I can have them done.

How long does it take to get a special pulley size? And what if I wanted a smaller pulley than what you sell?
Thanks
Dale
