Talking New Lightning to SLO

I picked up my white 2001 L a couple of months ago in So. Cal. I couldn't help running against a Mitsubishi 3000 GT on the drive home, particularly since that was my former ride. You can imagine the grin factor at having to back off from 3/4 throttle to keep from bumping his rear ... at 120 MPH! Despite having the best intentions of an easy break in, one week later I found myself driving home from work at 1:30 am on a deserted stretch of highway 101. I eased into the middle of the lane and buried my foot until I pegged the speedo at 140 MPH!

The next right of passage was the 150 foot burnout, and then ... MY FIRST RACE! It was a 305 Z28 running nitrous, and I smoked him. Oh, how I love this truck! The only thing better was discovering this community. I've probably spent more time on these Lightning sights over the past 2 weeks then I have at work, and certainly more than I have with my girlfriend! (Hey, at least I have my priorities right!) Thanks for sharing all of the wisdom, experiences and humor. It's a thrill to share the passion.

Hay, me too. Ditto on the form … I got my 01 about 6 weeks ago. As a kid ( I am 46 now) I had plenty of hot cars. My first was a Maverick with a 302 4 speed and a 6-71. Later came marriage and kids. Got back into it with some Sportsman Drag racing. Got burnt out from that pretty quick, 4 heavy years or so.
But now with the L I feel like I am 16 again. The Wife doesn’t know what to do with me.
Of course she has had WS6 firebirds and Trans-am’s all along and now has her 00 Ram Air Firebird she is so proud of. Smoked her last week end. He He He he He He....
I got an L now and Life is Good again!!!!

I hope it stays with me as long if not longer….. This is a good group, as long as you do a search first
