Next Best Bang for Buck mod??

With a 2001 L, after the chip, filter and transmission valve, what is the next best bang for the buck mod that can be performed? In other words, what is the next best horsepower/dollar change? Also, does anyone make underdrive pulleys for the (2001) L? ThankS!

Cool

Iron Machine, the next bang for the buck mod is without a doubt our PSP lower pulley. I shifts the torque curve lower, adds 2-3 psi, and gives you more power earlier. You will definately feel the difference. We have them in stock if you are interested, give me a call or shoot me an e-mail, 631-821-3622, sales@powersurgeperformance.net

As for the underdrives, you can use them on the Lightning. The modular motors have the balancer as part of the lower crank pulley. You can't change it because then the blower pulley assembly won't attatch to it.

Hey man you might want to also consider the Dial Your Boost pulley kit. It replaces your upper pulley with a hub and there are two interchangeable pulleys you can use. One is the stock boost and another is an additional 2.5 pounds of boost. Mark at Lightningforce sells these kits for 269.00 and you can reach him at UNI4MONEY@aol.com. He also carries a variety of other performance parts that you could look at.

P.S. Why not get both lower and upper?

Look into JDM's lower pulley also.. It is a quality unit that utilizes the stock crank support bracket, if you are going to keep your L for a while, this is the best engineered pulley around.. an xtra 2lbs of boost and 2-3tenths in the 1/4..

Guys

Since JDM and Lighning Force are NOT Supporting Vendors please ease up on the outright promotion of thier Products here.

Sharing good experience with product is one thing. BUT When most of your posts are promotions of a vendors products with contact info that raises questions as to your participation in their business.

For example Evilguy half of your recent posts have been only to promote Lightningforce his products and his contact info.

Thanks in advance

Doug

I have no relation to any vendor.

I found that the JDM pulley was the way to go due to two factors.

1. It is the only one to use the factory crankshaft support
2. The blower speed at 5,600 PRM is lowest with the JDM. A few of the other pulleys bring the blower's RPM much higher then it's advertised critical speed.

There are some great pulley "debates" on www.svtperformance.com

I also found that Lightning Force was the cheapest place to get a single blade throttle body, ready to bolt on a Lightning. This is a good throttle response modification and a few ponies for $399

Hope this unbiased information helps you.

I have not received anything to promote JL except for the excellent customer service, quality of his products, and a rush when blowing away sports cars around town. That being said, I would say JL's lower pulley is awesome. My stock boost gauge is about 1/4 inch in the black, that is without the upper pulley. It looks good, easy to install(45min.), and really doesn't cost too much compared to other mods. There are others that say don't get that it will spin your blower too fast. I have both upper and lower pullies. I haven't blown anything and a lot of others haven't either. What are you doing when you chip your Lightning? Are you changing fuel air ratio? rev limiter? and who knows what else. If you have a chip you might as well go all the way and get the best pulley. If you are worried about keeping it within factory specs-what are you doing with a chip?

Thumbs up

I've tried just about every mod possible, and have em on the L.My latest mod was the JL lower pulley, put it on yesterday, let me tell you that's a piece of work. The boost is amazing and I have the upper pulley as well. The truck runs and sounds even better than before. And I do have to agree that JL put it in my hands asap....
So if I was adding another mod and was in your situation,go with the JL lower pulley, you won't be sorry.
J MAN
