Few Questions for a newbie

Just got a 2001 L with a 2006 ford reman motor in it, has full length Dynatec headers, 6 lb lower pulley, Accufab single blade, JLP air intake, not sure about the MAF.. Bassani cat back, and some sort of shift kit..hard 1st to 2nd shifts, Has Traction(long) bars and was told it was tuned by JLP but unable to verify the tune..it runs Awesome, but been reading a few threads about OD shifts to 2nd not good? like when passing someone? so what ..? Am I supposed to put her in 3rd before flooring it? I am new to this but dont want to grenade it..Thanks for any input..I have put about 3000 pretty hard miles on her with no issues..but want to avoid any too ! any tips will be welcomed!

welcome to the forum!

all you really have to do is take it out of OD before you floor it and pass someone. the downshift to 2nd from OD puts alot of pressure on the weak stock rods, so thats usually when people grenade their motors.

i would see what MAF you have, because im sure you should be running atleast a sct2400 MAF with a 6# lower.

does it say motorcraft on it?

i would call jlp and see if they can look it up or something if they tuned it.

but i would recommend getting a bigger MAF and a retune since you live in a colder climate.

Lightning 101. Get a Mafia or SCT maf before you do any boost mods.

Lightning care and maintinance 101. Oil changes are at 2999 miles with full synthetic.

I have had 2 and both were DD's for some point in their life. i love them dearly but man they can be tempermental.

Lightning tuning 101. Don't get greedy. It;s not a bad AFR that kills rods, it's usually too much timing. Just because it is "safe" doesn not mean it is safe.
