More lightnings are bing loaded and produced!!!!!!!

well guys I'm not sure if these are 01's that are still being made but fords got a chit load of new L's in the lot in chicago behind me. Pulling in the lot today I counted 17 new L's in that lot alone, and I can only see about one row down (there's about 6 rows). I don't know how they could possible need anymore L to be produced, My local dealer has three new 01's sitting in there lot right now, and also two used L's. I don't know what fords plannig on doing, but there's allot of L's being made, and nobody buying them.

I really wish they wouldn't make a 2002. This is stupid! It really pisses me off. I guess I might aswell rip this eaton blower off and put my novi 2000 on cause this truck sure isn't going to be that speacial after another year of production. Ford fu@ked me. It was so nice before when you could drive around and not see another L and you would know that your probably one of the only poeple in your town with one of these trucks. Not that I don't like all you guys, I do, but there's just to many L's now. I see them all the time now and its pissing me off. Atleast I know mines on of the coolest out there and fastest!

I guess that will have to do, until ford make the lightningR (limited production lightning with only 300 being produced and a little over 600hp at the reawheels from the factory). I'm first in line to buy one of those if they make it.

Sorry to vent guys, It just gets me mad.

RTKILLA, I agree with you but there are a few positive things about them making more L's. The more they make now, the more parts will be salvageable 20 years from now to keep our bad boys going. I am one of the few who plan to keep the L going forever, so I'll be glad to find a transmission, MAF, or bumper cover in the junk yard 25 years from now. In addition, there will be more aftermarket potential, so maybe we will get some special parts available out of it.

Could be that the assembly plant in Oakville, Ontario is shipping
all assembled 01's in the inventory to start the 02's.
Then again it could be just a case of supply and demand.
I have only seen 1 other silver 01 in my area since I took delivery
of mine, but I personally don't mind if the build many more.

I love my truck and don't really care if they make more or not, well not really true, I would like the production numbers held to under 5000 a year and that would help keep value higher.

I can't understand ford, they have many many L's sitting on lots that obviously can't be sold at least at this point and they just keep popping them out.

I would think from a business perspective it would make more sense to let the demand come up and meet the supply level. Not keep the supply numbers going up and up and the demand going down.

I guess when you have such a huge company, some things just get lost like common business sense.

If GM were to come out with a real truck that could compete I might look at that, well maybe not.

RT Killa,

Move to Canada. I have only seen 2 L's around Calgary and have only seen 3 HD. You bring you L up here and you will be pelling the girls off you windshield like bugs.

LowriderHD2000,
The lightning is not as rare up here as you think - I know of at least 4 lightnings south of fish creek alone - i used to work at the gas king in midnapore until i finished university and got to know a few of the owners. Now that we've got a silver 2000 in the garage, there seems to be more than ever. I do agree with you about the attention they still get though. Nice looking truck by the way.....i see yours around all the time. Yours is more rare than the lightning in these parts......

While I agree that I wish Ford would stop making them, so our value would hold, I believe it was stated early on that roughly 25,000 motors were contracted to be made. That would suggest 25,000 Lightnings, give or take a few thou. I don't think anybody got f#cked. Check out how many Cobras are being produced. What is it, 7500 hard tops and 7500 convertibles? This year!!

The only rarity about Lightnings here in southern Ontario are the ones on the street. If you want to go see one, check at an SVT dealer, minimum 3 or 4 per lot, with as many as 13 (I've heard). I've also heard of $6000.00 deducts off of list. Makes sense. We only have a month of summer left.

LowRider, SilvrLndJet is right for once (LOL), I've seen a handful of L's around Calgary. There's usually atleast one at every car event that I've been to. I think you and SilvrLndJet should meet on a deserted street some where and let the rubber fly! Coarse, you would have the advantage because of SilvrLndJet's inability to control the big beast.

I see another black 99

up here almost everyday. Well, I know where it parks for the night, and I like to drive by it. Could it be AKblack99? Nah, but I've talked to other Lightning owners, and asked if they have raced any new Corvettes.

"I cant get any to line up with me" <--- Thats what they tell me.

Then I walk away as if I completed a job well done, thanks Ford.

Then I come across an acquaintance of a fellow that just bought a brand new WS6, and ask if he knows about our heads up race (which saw taillights to 100+). Ofcourse he didnt know about it. What was I talking about, and how did I know the color?

Then to complete my day, I see my friendly F-body rivals at the motorsports which is run by an all-motor no nitrous no torqueconverter 11.9 WS6, and bring up another rival, 3 wins, 1 loss against a well modded Firehawk at the track, again, news to them.

THANKS FORD!

There are two kids in my subdivision that live with their parents and both have 99 lightnings!! White and black. Other than those two, i only see about 1 per week, and I have only seen one 2001 driving. The two Ford dealers in my area have 6 or 7 2001's left. I live near Detroit, Michigan.

RTKILLA, your are absolutely right. It was nice before in my town when I was the only one with a lightning. Now in my small *** town I see 2 or 3 others all the time. Ford doesn't care about how we feel. All they care about is making money!
