Question Recent MM&FF article

I figured this topic had already been discussed but I went back quite a ways and couldn't find it. So, if their is already a post about this please just point me that way.

I noticed in my new MM&FF their was an article about them testing a C&L MAF on "The Fridge" and they got 30 rwhp out of it. I think these numbers are pretty impressive. Is anyone running a C&L MAF or are they not available yet? Also, does any one know of a supplier who offers these? Thanks.

It sure does soud like a nice increase, but would that increase com to us with our already calibrated chips???

look at how much HP they started of with, and in the next article they went to JDM and got all that stuff setup and dialed in. I wonder why the C&L meter wasn't on there then for jim to play with???

Angry

They tested the C & L on a different truck NOT the "Fridge". My own little pet peeve with these meter comparisons is that they compare a meter with an open element filter to the stock air box. I wish they would just bolt up a conical K & N to the stock meter and do the dyno's that way so everything is equal. I bet the difference would be negligable. Just my thoughts.

I agree with SVTRobG,

Don't waste your money.
However, if you are so inclined I know a Lightning Owner in Chicago that would be delighted to sell you one.

I was probably the first person to try a C&L MAF on a Lightning more that 2 years ago.

We bolted the MAF on and did maybe 8 dyno runs and achieved a whooping 0 HP increase, next we created a custom chip that only netted 25 RWHP with the MAF next we put the stock airbox back on and made the exact same HP, so in my first case the C&L didn’t do anything but make a howling noise through the K&N air filter.

Funny thing, I next put a JL chip on and immediately got an error code/check engine light, but it ran like a banshee. I put the stock air box back on to get rid of the check engine light and it didn’t run as well.

The point that I’m trying to make is, that there’s so many variables it’s so hard to say what works and what doesn’t.

MM&FF are biased against any meter except C&L, just like they are towards any chip but Superchips.
