Engine redline questions
Engine redline questions
A friend of mine at work was talking to me about my truck and brought up a good point. Is it odd for a engine especially one with all forged internals to have a redline set at 5250 RPM's? I would think this engine would be safe to at least 6500 RPM's. The only reason I could think of is it is set low because of the blower RPM limit. With the engine turning 6000-6500 the supercharger would be over it's safety margin. This sound correct to anyone else? Also are the 5.4 blocks 6 bolt main cap engines or 4 bolt? I thought I had seen a picture of one apart and it was 6 bolt. Thanks for any input.

Piston Speeds?
Gentlemen:
How about peak piston speeds with the long-stroke 5.4 truck motor? I think they're already very high with the stock redline. I'm sure somebody knows the answer. Please don't make me calculate it.
