18" Slicks

I picked up a set of Dulop 18" radial roadrace slicks this weekend. They match the stock F1 size almost exactly. Plan to try them at the strip and then mount up all 4 try the open track. Now what I need is a cheap set of L wheels. Don't care what year. JUst need straight wheels. So if anyone has a set of 4 or a set of 2 please let me know. Cosmetic flaws are fine. I will post how they hook as soon as I get wheels and hit the track.

They are 300mm wide (vs 295 for the F1). 27-1/2" tall unmounted (vs 28" for the F1 mounted).

Road racing slicks dont usually work good for drag racing. Granted, sometimes, they are better then standard street radials. However, one of the options most road race tires (as its a desirable quality in a road race tire) is _very_ stiff side walls. This is undesirable in a drag tire, as you want sidewall flex.

I have Yokohama A032R's (road race tire) in 315x35x17 on my supra. The best time these tires would net was a 2.2 60'. Much spinnage, or boggage. Could never get them to hook and could never find the "sweet" spot.

I think (if you were to do a direct comparison) that Nitto's in the right size (they should be available now, or RSN) will net better short times at the drag course. Probably cheaper as well, with better street manners.

Now, on the road course, its another story.

The only marking on the tires id B44D.356. No model nubers anywhere. They came from one of the European factory LeMans prototype cars. Couldn't beat the price (free). They are race scrubs. Just one heat cycle to scuff them in. Should be fun to try.

J. Selman. Interested in your wheels. Have you had the wheel that was curbed checked for runout? Don't care if it is scuffed, just want to be sure it is straight.
