Angry Lower Grille $270.00???

A friend with out insurance backed into my lightning and punched out the lower grille, license plate frame and scratched up the bumper cover, the body shop says $270 for the lower grille and $22 for the license plate cover, is this a little steep? Does anyone have a grille they took out of a 2001 they want to sell?

Does that include labor to install? If so, I'd say that you're in the ballpark.

Knowing the auto manufacturers, and their parts prices, it doesn't suprise me that this is what they charge.

It would be less expensive to add a billet grill from an aftermarket manufacturer. If you are worried about it matching, you could replace both grilles for less $.

Nope thats the right price. Thats what Ford wanted for one but Fordpartsonline.com wanted it for about $210.00. You should try to find someone who will sell theirs from their lightning that they replaced with a billet grille. I got one from a guy 100.00 shipped.

I suggest just replacing them with Billet Grilles, I have the trenz and they look great, but also, I still have my stock 99 grilles if you wanted them, not sure why on a 2001 but just in case.

I've still got my stock lower grille if you need one.

Also, I'm replacing the Trenz polished grilles with Street Scene Speed Grilles this week if anybody wants those at a discount.

E-mail me if you're interested.

Rich...Your gonna LOVE the speed grilles!!! The gawk factor on my truck has doubled since I put those bad boys on this past weekend! I have gotten alot of "It looks mean" compliments about the speed grilles. Installation is pretty easy..good luck!

Good to know. Do you have a picture of them completed. I don't know if I've ever seen them on a red Lightning...

I think that they will match better with the ram-air inserts on the Cervinis hood, as opposed to the billet grilles(actually, I just want to tear it apart again).

Rich or 99RedWV,

Did you guys go with the satin aluminum finish or the chrome finish on the Speed Grilles? Can you e-mail me pics of your grilles so I can see what they look like? I am considering the chrome grille inserts but I don't want to go too "disco."

Thanks in advance,

Dan

P.S. Can you give me shout about how you did the install? I heard (from Hilander) that the "clips" provided with the Speed Grilles are miserable and it's easier to use zip ties on the lower grille. Thanks again.

This is RedWv99...this is my home account....the clips that come w/ the grill are good IMO. The lower grill is the easiest piece of the 2. Let me charge up the digital camera and I will talke some pics. The finish i ordered was the standard satin finish..it looks very nice.
