99 BOLT fix up for 12.00
Purchased my BOLT in 99 Best ET 13.2 with a chip only.
How much and what mods to get a "reliable" 12.00 machine.
Truck is stock with 100,000 miles
Are we talking new engine ? new blower ? new transmission ? and beefed up suspension ?
12.00 is all I need but I want it street legal and reliable.
Thanks for any advice.

if I were you, this is what I would do
a re-gear to 4.10's
a whipple (or KenneBell with JLP Plenum) 2.3
60# injectors
twin 255lph fuel pumps
a 2400 stall converter
long tube headers
a larger MAF or MAFia
traction bars
sticky tires
25 dry shot
a rock solid tune
that will get your truck capable of twelves with ease, but then again if stock pullied Lightnings can run mid 12's you better be knocking on 10's with a twin screw
My concerns I don't think the stock bottom end could handle that much increase in power
(need a new stronger block) Also NHRA requires roll bar at 11.99 and quicker
So with small slicks (26" tall) my 3.55 gear was kind of ok and my Superchip (the old static kind) got me a 13.2 So I need to pick up about 1 second I want to do long tube headers just for the race sound , it may help a bit in performance 1 second without breaking is what I hope for - Thanks to all for advice

Ok some of these guys at sea level can get there with a ported eaton and +8 lbs of boost maybe +6 lbs of boost pulley. Ported eatons are around used. This will be your most cost effective power. I would recommend this, I've been running a +4 pulley for 8 years no problems yet. You will need a good tune, a dyno tune is ideal including running with some higher octane fuel 98+ at the track. You have slicks so traction should be good. A tighter shifting transmission will help a few tenths but a valvebody ideally would need to be installed, a servo by itself does it too. You do have a big cold air kit right? the 99's had a smaller mass air so a bigger 01+ mass air would help some, not alot but some (has to be tuned for this). You could change the rearend gears and that would help probably 3 tenths but they would probably be $600-1000. A whipple or Kenne B charger would get you big gains but they are pretty expensive. If you want to run your truck alot at the track you might want to step up to better rods but you should be ok for little while, just don't overrev it.
