Man that really sucks

Doesn't seem like it would be to hard. Maybe just order the parts and do it yourself.

LOL...I hear ya...I think I'm over the upset part now..Now Im more pissed because for one..this is a very busy road that I hit this dog on and two...there is a leash law in the county. I couldnt swerve cuz traffic was coming other way so it was me or the dog. My friend who I think loves my truck more than me said i should find the owners and sue them for truck damage since they broke the leash law..I was like man thats like rubbing salt in the wound..they already gotta peel their dog off the side of the road!

It was a pick-up truck that hit my dog, Buster, when I was 8. I never thought about the damage to the truck but then, he drove off so I wouldn't know...

Where are your heart's people????

What about the DOG!!!! You can't be upset with the dog for this. It was probably one of thoughs thoughtless, As%&*@ lawn service companies that left the gate open and the little fella got out.

***GRRRRR!!!!****

I'll bet that dog was having a great time and you went and ran him over for it. Maybe if you kept your eyes on the road and observed the speed limit we'd be talking about the dog you "almost" hit instead

grrrrrrrr..........

Wait a minute hold the phone!!! I am in NO WAY pissed at the dog!! I am however pissed that owners would let a dog loose near a road that is as busy as this one is. And for you information I was observing the speed limit..the dog came out from bushes to my right..by the time i got on the brakes it was to late..and I hit the dog at almost midnight...so I dont think there was ANY lawn care services or whatever out that time of day. But hey buddy I didnt have much choice..I swerve..odds are Im laying in the morgue right now. Im sorry Im not risking my life to save an animal that doesnt belong to me. But if u want to assume I was flying down the road at excessive speeds fine and dandy. The little banter that Lighting98fire and I were having was more along the lines of stress relief from this whole sitaution...not us being heartless

I understand as much as I'm going to

I didn't see much symathy for the dog and I had to make my point about that.

Grrr!!!!!If you can find the owners of the dog they are ultimately responsible and can be held to pay your insurance deductible so this shouldn't really cost you anything but time.

When I was a kid, I watched a friend get hit by a truck and thrown about 50 feet. Funny thing was that he was crossing the street on hit bike against a red light and the guys insurance company took his mother to court and she had to buy the guy a new bumper.

When I was a kid our dog broke through the screen door and ran into a car. We payed for the damage to his door as well as $800.00 in vet bills.

Well point taken...sorry if I ranted on you..this has got me all bugged out...Call me soft but I dont have the heart to tell the owners.."oh by the way..i need $xxx to pay for my truck". Now depending on how much it costs that might be a different story..but I've been wantin to replace the factory grills w/ some billet inserts or something...well lower needs replaced so heck I might as well get a new upper one too...I can probably find aftermarket ones for cheaper than the dealer cost for factory replacements. All things aside..I still feel horrible..I mean if I hit wildlife...f*ck it...but this was someone's pet. If someone hit and killed my rottweiler I'd feel like crap..one cuz it's dead. Thats why my baby girl stays in the house most of the time and if shes out shes in her fenced in yard or me walking her on the leash..or should I say her walking me since she is a 115pd rott!!!

Even with $1000 deductible, you might have been smart enough to have chosen the zero deductible for Comprehensive -- in which case things like hitting deer, rocks in the windscreen, and door dings when parked are covered.

If not, check into it.

I had my kids' cars minimally-insured -- but zero-deductible for comprehensive (as mentioned above) --- and the cost for the comprehensive was unbelievably cheap.

Food for thought.

Thumbs down

I hit a dog recently also. Fortunately it was not in an L but in my chevy S10. We have leash laws for a reason and people who let their dogs run around loose should be held accountable. If your really pissed you can sue the dog owner if a leash law has been violated. I'm sure its been done before.

If its an untagged or a wild dog well then there's nothing you can do. When I hit that dog I was going 60 and I chopped it in half. I didn't stop to see if the parts were still alive.
