Question What parts does the Lightning trans share with the PowerStroke?

I know that the Lightning shares transmission parts with the power stroke transmission. Does anyone know what parts are the same? I was just wondering since a friend of mine was showing me his 400HP 900ft/lb powerstroke. He has not had any transmission problems at this level of power So I was wondering what is different since the trans in the Lightning seems to be the weak point. Any input is greatly appreciated.

I can not believe that he has 900 ft/lb going throught the factory auto transmission. The factory transmission can barely handle the stock 500 ft/lb. I do not believe he has ever used that motor for what it was designed for. That just seems a little too far fetched to believe. Your friend should visit http://www.interstat.net/ford/guestbook/guest.html and get some info from the Navistar Tech.

The only upgrades he has on the transmission are a aftermarket converter, trans-go shift kit and a larger trans cooler. As for towing with it he tows a 6 horse trailer almost every weekend. Any other input to the question is greatly appreciated.

Hey its totaly possible to get that power from that motor now!

My buddy has a F250 with a chip, propane kit, and other bolt on stuff. he played with the turbo a little and cranked it up and now the truck runs a high 13 at the track on the stock tires. Its sick as hell. When that propane kicks in its like a nitrous kick.

The one guy I work with just bought a new chevy 2500 with the duramax motor and he's buying a chip thats giving that motor an aditional 90 hp and 125 ftlbs, thats sick from a chip.

A part of me hopes that ford puts a turbo on the 2003 lightning!

Don't forget that 12 sec excursion that was in Truckin a little while back. They added an exhuast, computer work and playing with the turbo and the hit 12's.

Yep, it's possible, my boyfriend has a Powerstroke and it Dyno'd at 404.2 HP and 825.3 lbs of Torque. It ran 14.35 in the 1/4 mile. So, it's possible! Oh yeah, it's got stock transmission and stock inectors.....

Bye Now...Ronda

Hey Guys, this is your resident Diesel Guy here. The 4r100 Trans is shared by both the Lightnings and the Powerstroke. My Powerstroke as my Lovely Girlfriend Ronda said went into the 400HP range and 800 Ft lbs of torque. the only trans mods I currently have is a Sonnax Line pressure modulator valve and Tricumulator accumulator spring set. Both in combination make the trans live and firm up the shifts. both items can be purchased through the internet. www.sonnax.com and www.techtranstool.com both of which are a cheap investment also using Mobil 1 Synthetic helps and a Mag Hytec Trans pan which adds 2 gallons of ATF capacity which helps cool the transmission the pans can be found at www.mag-hytec.com which the pan is basically a 4X4 pan with the deep sum that goes clear across the pan which is where you pick up the monster Fluid capacity. Just a few thoughts.

Greg
