Ran into a fox-body stock 5.0 LX 'stang on the highway today. He paced me at 70mph then layed into it. He pulled almost a car length ahead of me and stayed there until 120mph, where he either letoff or I started go gain (?). He said he was stock...

I'm stock (with PSP filter) and a nice fat leaky intercooler. (I think I've got 1/4 a tank right now).

That 5.0 was faster then I expected.

No way he was stock unless your L runs mid to high 14s. I have raced stacks of stock 5.0 Mustangs in the late 80s with my Iroc and never lost. Some were close though.

The weather and my current leaky intercooler, I'm probably running 14ish right now.

I have no chip and probably no intercooler coolant at the moment. My ProM is in the garage since I'm going for warranty soon. So all I had is the PSP filter.

I figure, at 70, he got the drop on me at the start by downshifting. Isn't the old 5.0 fox-body a 14ish car stock? I thought my cousin's was, but his didn't stay stock for very long, so I'm not sure. lol.

The summertime heat/humidity seems to have big effects on these trucks. The other day I raced a 2001 GT with pullies and a full exhaust from a 20mph start.....he pulled out to about a half a car length in front of me and we stayed there all the way up to 100mph. I was kinda shocked, but it was around 100deg outside and I had 2 other people in the L with me. Because of my experience, I will be getting Chip-N-Filtered shortly.
