What was I waiting for?
I have had fast f-body cars over the last 3 years.
I had an 11 sec Blown '96 TA and a Bolt on '98 WS.6 Convertible.
I moved to Portland, OR (from S. Florida) recently and realized that the WS.6 was not the best car for the enviroment. Bottoming out on speed bumps and no room to put the mountain bike, skiis, fishing gear got me thinking. I needed something much different. I did some reasearch and came up with the perfect solution for my need of practicality and power.
Enter the 2001 Silver Lightning.
This is simply an amazing vehicle. Solid, tight and damn it gets some looks.
It's got great power (even thought I'm still breaking it in, 40 miles so far) and I can't get over how well it is put together. Inside and out this is one awesome beast.
Hat's off to SVT for this creation . . .

Note: I made a few posts before purchase under the name "Paladin" This name, FlashSVT, matches my AOL IM name. Besides, it's much cooler! =)

Welcome to Oregon. You are going to love that truck. Have you found Woodburn drag strip yet? Opps forgot only 40 miles so far. Give it a few more then see what it will do. Getting quite a few new Oregon owners lately. Have to plan a gathering soon.
Welcome back to the board. And if you think the truck gets some looks now, wait til you drive it for a few more weeks.
I've had to re-adjust myself. Usually when I came out of a store and people where hanging around my truck, it wasn't a good thing. Now I come out and theres just guys looking at going 'oooh is that you truck?'

Thanks!
Thanks guys. I put another 100 miles on her today. Basically trying to find my way around town looking for two products:
Low Gloss Armor All (No glare like the shiny crap) and a Clay Bar. =)
Now it's time to Clay Bar and Zaino the new toy! =)
Hey Silver-Bolt, shoot me an email if you want to meet up this weekend. I'd love to check out your L and the mods you've done.

Heh
Yep! I know I'll be saying, "I'll drive!" a lot this week. =)
The whole truck is clayed now. Nice and smooth.
I guess my break is over . . . time for the Zaino Z1 and Z2! =)

C'mon out to Woodburn this next Saturday (Aug. 4th) for the Thunder Truck drags, even just to watch. I'm looking forward to meeting up with some of the other local Lightnings as well. I believe we're meeting at Fry's Electronics in Wilsonville around 7:30am, and then leave for the track around 8am.
Heck, come along just for the caravan on the way over! =)
Silver-Bolt: found out about next Saturday yet?

I won't know for sure until Monday regarding next weekend. Looks very strong for me to be at PIR's track instead of Woodburn. Be bummed if I miss Woodburn, but it will be worth it to re-new some ties with old friends in the Trans-Am series.

Water Spots
I noticed some water spots last night. I decided that the old vinegar trick would work. Well, these spots were practically etched on to the paint.
So I bust the clay bar back out. One freaking hour spent re-claying the front bumper and hood. I think I got all of them out.
A fresh coat of Z1 and Z2 are curing on the bumper/hood as we speak . . . I'm gonna take some photos later on today, once I find a scenic location. =)
Now I need to find a window tinting place in the Portland Metro Area. Anybody know of one?
Fun, fun, fun

Flash: should be at least 3 of us, hopefully more.
I know what you mean about the water spots... had a car show to prep for this past Saturday, so it meant a lot of hours with the claybar and the rest of the Zaino products. Can't complain with the results, and I managed to pull off first place in the truck category too!
Anyway, to answer your last question, the place I had my drop done (Charley's Drop Shop) recommended Tommy's Window Tinting in Portland (503.891.TINT). Also, if you're looking for a place to do a LineX liner, Charley's is the place to go. I had the opportunity to watch the whole process while they were working on my truck, and I observed nothing but quality, detailed worksmanship.

Sounds good Rick. The more the merrier!
I found a place in Beaverton that will tint the truck for $155.00 using 20% all around. They also give a lifetime warranty.
Alexia's Auto Window Tinting
10100 SW Canyon Road, Beaverton (503)671-9615
I'm going to give them a shot.
BTW, what mods have you done to your truck?
