01 vett owner is a believer now.....
This time i was minding my own business! "Honest." 
Two guys in an 01 vett convert now have a new found respect for a truck!! I was heading over to friends house and this vett finds me and he's egging me on at a roll. I know I don't have a chance and tell him to catch the light. It took us a few and we line up. Everyone behind us new what we were trying to do and let us slow down on a green to catch it at red. So were talking and his budy thinks this is a for sure kill. I hear a guy yell behind us from another car, "Pink slips, race for pink slips." (should have.)
We get a good laugh and I could see the light is getting ready to change. He's creeping at the light (6 speed, in the vett) Light turns green, no wheel spin for me while I hear the vett light them up. I get at least two cars on him and and he's gaining on me, I hit 110mph and I shut it down. I knew that it had been a 1/4 mile and a little more. He had closed up the gap to within a car length by that time.
He get's next to me and asked what I had done. Nothing yet. Just a K&N flat filter and spark plugs. He didn't buy it. So i pulled into the gas station, opened the hood. I showed him the factory pulleys are still on. No n20 and no chip. He was stock (6000 on odo) and complaining about using oil. He admitted he wasn't really good at shifting the car. He had the traction control off when we raced. He couldn't get over it, a truck took him. He laughed but changed his mind about keeping the vett stock!
They just don't want to believe it's stock! They go into denial after they get beat by a truck. It's a shock to the vett ego!
This one is on my all-time best kill list. I wish I could have caught it on video for all to see. Tundra, you would have been proud of this one!!
Maybe i will hold off on the mods a while.

I'm still stalking for my first victim. We were in Bishop Calif. a week ago. I saw a new Vette while we were cruisin in the L. I was drooling and hoping to catch a red light with him. We went to the Ford dealer and test drive a new Mazda Tribute. While in the 200hp. V-6 Tribute, we finally got lined up with the Vette.
This is just my luck. LOL

Thanks! You would think, me living in the automotive capital of the world i would have raced more vett's! I can't get most of them to take the bait. They won't bother because it's a truck and not a mustang or crapmaro.
The cat is out of the bag here in Detroit on the Lightning! There was an article in the Detroit Free Press by Lawrence Ulrich in the automotive reviews. 7/26/01.
He praises SVT and Ford. Gave it four stars. Here are a few quote's from the article.

You've got one sweet truck, however though it is indeed stock, it's still a blown engine. Let's see what you can do against a comparably modified C5, or if you're really a glutton for punishment the Z06. The C5 you just "blew away" is rated at 350 HP and 350 ft.lbs. with normal restricted breathing and exhaust, stock.
The blown Triton @ 380 HP shooting down the road in a straight line will see a lot of others in ther rear view... for a little while. Let the C5 wind up the upper end with the flatter torque curve and you'll get a good look at those pretty Red lights in front.
Don't even think about a road race with a Corvette, as you'll bend and scratch your baby for sure. Until you drive the C5, don't think it's mush!

I look for vettes during testntune at my drag strip. I stalk em. All the regulars love it. They come up to me after I beat em and say I just won $10 bucks because my buddy thought the vette could beat you. They had two announces one night and one says the vettes gonna win and the other says "Noels gonna whip his a$$ and I got 10 bucks to back him. Vettes are fun.........
