Oval Throttle Body (Bay Area)
Anybody in the Bay Area that knows of a good shop that can install the Oval Throttle Body without me having to bring the truck to the dealership.
I ws told by one auto repair shop that I will have to leave my truck for the whole day for them to do the job.
In some messages in this board, some are saying it only took them about 20-30 minutes.
Need a reputable auto repair shop that won't "bs" me.
Thanks!

Ummm.... I haven't put a new throttle body on my 2k Lightning, but as long as you have one that has been modified for the L (linkage, etc.) you really should be able to just unbolt the old one and bolt the new one right on. I really can't see why anyone (even with basic hand tools) couldn't do this themselves. Shouldn't even take long... Just my opinion...
It took me eight minutes and 23 seconds to do, my wife was timing me because we had a dinner reservation and I wanted to put on the T.B. before we went, and I told her it would takes less than 10 minutes. We were both happy!
GOTECHS-
I am having my T/B among other things installed today at APEX Motorsports (408-562-1000) in San Jose. They did all of the work on my 2000 L, and they did a very good job - they also have a dyno!!!!
Good luck,
Dave

I think the cheapest (price wise) is from Mark/Lightningforce... Send him an email at: UNI4MONEY@aol.com
JDM ( svtperformance.com ) has them also...
Of course you can't forget about BaBolt... he has them as well...
If you do a search, you should be able to come up with more than enough information...

Can you kindly check with them as to how long it will take for them to install the oval t/b.
I would rather wait for the install to be completed than leave the truck with anyone for the day.
Thank you!

I just sent APEX an e-mail. I will let you know once I receive a response. Send me an e-mail so that I can respond to you off of the board.
Thanks,
Dave

By the way, APEX is doing all of my engine & exhaust work, however, they recommended someone else for my torque converter & line mod valve;

I just installed BABolt's work of art last night. Under 15 minutes and all you need is an 8mm socket and a 10mm deep socket. Remove 2 screws, 2 nuts, thhrottle cable, cruise cable then unscrew the 2 studs. Piece of cake.
