Calling Sal about Gen 1
Nixsvt, yes Gen1 s have one pump per tank. Each tank has a 125lph pump, but some of the fuel pressure is used to open the valve that makes the fuel return to that tank, so with the fuel bleed off, it's about 110lph per pump.
Sal, the reason I'm asking is my 95 recently started to die on me whenever it's hot outside. It starts back up again after a while, but it's really starting to bug me. I replaced the fuel filter. I thought it was weird to have both fuel pumps go out at the same time. It does it on both tanks. Any thoughts? I had a 91 5.0 that did the same thing. The dealer told me it wasn't the fuel pump so I put a fuel pressure gauge on the hood and everytime it would die the fuel pressure would go to zero shortly before. I begged them to put a pump in and after they did it never again had a problem. I really don't want to put a fuel pressure gauge on my truck! I drive about 180 miles a day and don't want to rack up all these miles on my 00' since it's leased. Please help!
