Surprised by a F150 on 33"s
I was cruising around San Ho last night, and came up behind a black, lifted F150, with at least 33" tires in the left turn lane.
We both are making a U-y, and he takes it fast, getting all four of those big meats to sqeal in unison. Then he takes off fast.
I'm excited about to possibility to educate this guy.
So, I get next to him at the next light. The light goes green, and we launch. I beat him, but not like I expected to.
At the next red, he says, "I never raced a Lightning before." Then explained that when he bought his truck, the gen 2 Lightnings weren't availible yet. So, he bought the F150, and slapped a Vortec in it...8lbs of boost. He also hasn't changed his gears out yet, so he was losing torque.
Anyway, he was a pretty cool guy. At least I think so because I won.

Did I mention that the other day on the way to work I made this dude in a Camry ***** himself cause he cut me off. I've never roast the tires like that before or launched so fast before. It was cool. I think he will look next time he changes lanes!!
Michael,
Thursday was OK. My car started about 5 min. after you left. It was just a little embarrassing. I have got to figure that problem out. I'm pretty sure its ignition, but nothing I've tried has fixed it yet.
CBQB3,
I think that guy in the f150 last night would have probably done better had he changed his gears. We had to part company before I could ask him anymore about his truck.
Its nice to know there's a sleeper Ford truck out there surprising Chebys and R/T's.

I was always kind of curious to know how my truck would go with a blower. Considering the 4x4 is only a couple hundred pounds more weight then the L, they could be fairly close with some work. Tachophile, was it a 4x2 or 4x4, 5.4L? Makes me wonder.

Fordification,
I honestly, didn't notice if it was a 4x4, or 4x2. I'll keep an eye out for him again, and take note. He did say it was a 5.4l.
As far as the 4x4 goes, the extra weight is one factor. But, I think you have some extra drag on your driveline too. I have no idea what that adds up to, but I'm sure somebody has bench marked it somewhere...anyone, anyone, Beuler?

There is a guys around my area who has a early 1970's f150 4x4 with big tires and a 428. I don't know what he would run in a 1/4 mile but he can keep up with a Lightning pritty well. He is not quite as fast but he keeps pritty close.
LowRider, that would be cool. Some of those ricers really need a good *ss kickin'. Maybe we could get a good deal through WMS on a blower for our trucks. What do ya think?
Tachophile, you can usually tell it's a 4x4 by the ride height. Coarse, a 4x2 with a lift and 33 while sitting in a L would very much look like a 4x4.

fordification - I'm checking into prices right know on them. Haven't gone to WMS but went to Performance Muffler and Exsaghst. Also talked to Crash to see about his prices.
P.S. I sold the Camaro yesterday.
