WHAT04's Phantom A/F gauge

So this is probably getting old to some, but I finally ordered gauges for my pillar pods and I had a few questions for WHAT04 or others that have the same Autometer Phantom 2 1/16" 270 degree sweep Air/Fuel Gauge:

#1. Does the actual white gauge face light up similar to the other Phantom gauges, like Boost etc (green if using the bulb cover), or is it only the LED lights that do?

#2. I'm assuming that this works with/off of the O2 sensor somehow; do you have any (install) tips that might help me out?

Thanks. later...

Hey MXRacer,

The Phantom A/F Gauge does not have a light bulb in it and as such, does not light up like the other gauges. Only the LED's are lighted.

As far as hook up goes, it's pretty easy. Just run an extension off the violet lead down through the firewall, in a position of your choice and connect it to the BLACK lead on the front-most O2 sensor on the driver's side. This is an non-shielded wire so you can use the splice that just pinches through both wires (can't remember what they're called) No wire stripping required.

Others have run the violet lead to a wire off the PCM main bundle, but my method is easier, I think.

Just so you know, this gauge is pretty much useless other than a nice light show, and also for the future will tell whether you've got a lazy O2 sensor. Other than that, it works but tells you nothing.
