Windshield question...01 L

I have noticed/been bothered by a 'coating?' on the rt. and lft. side of my w/s. This is on the outside and you can 'feel' the hazy looking coating with the cellophane 'glove' that came with my clay bar.

I tried polishing it off with Zaino's Glass Cleaner and then tried lifting it off with a Clay Magic clay bar. Neither have worked so far. The clay bar 'may'(hard to see) have pulled/lifted some of it off.

It is a 'dusty' looking verticle 'stripe' with an inside(towards the center of the w/s) arc/curve on each 'end' of the w/s. It runs from top-to-bottom--no, it is not caused by the w/s wipers. It's a different shaped arc from the wipers and is further away from the end of the wipers. It actually looks factory applied, but I can't imagine what for?

Has anyone else noticed this? I find it hard to believe that mine is the only one to have this 'defect'?

Dan

I have a 2000 and have the same film your talking about. I too have tried but nothing seems to work. Looks like something leftover from factory install. Have not been back to dealer yet, but will bring it to their attention when I do

Also...

I'm similarly afflicted. I think it's on the INSIDE of the glass, but I may be mistaken. Tried everything, including acetone, to remove it. Don't use acetone - just my advice...

Yes, I've seen it on the inside on my front window also. I've been bad-mouthing Windex, but now it seems like I'm not alone and I guess I owe Windex an apology.

No, I'm sure mine is on the outside...you can feel it if you have a cellophane 'glove'(....don't go there! Mine came with the clay bar).

This was also on my 2001!!!! Except it was all over my bed as well. I used the wax shops "super glaze" to take it off! worked great for me. It appeared to be over spray of some sort and after looking at it on my polishing cloth, it was silver in color. The super glaze has solvents and cleaners in it as well as the wax and it didnt scratch my black L!
