Question Tailpipe Help

I am installing a magnaflow 14468 this week. I have 2-2.5" mandrel bent 90 deg pipes coming to run from the rear of the muffler to the tips. They will have to add pipe as the mandrels are 14" long to the bend and only 4" long after the bend. The critical thing is the MAJOR bend is mandrel. The pipe from te mandrels to the tips will also have to be bent less severe by a standard muffler shop bender.

My question is what is the best configuration and does anyone have any PICS? I know the inlets on the stock muffler are offset so the body of the muffler is level. However. the magnaflow will mount so the body is tipped at a 45 deg angle due to the inlets.

The magnaflow sits at an angle on mine. I have seen pics posted where they are flat. Try a search there have been lots of photos posted on the mags. Sorry but I don't have any.

here is how I did mine, if you look close you can see where the old pipe is welded to the new pipes.

If you look at this pic you can see where the left pipe had to be cut and shortened to fit.

Don,

Left pipe at the inlet or tailpipe had to be shortened? Do you have the 468 or 568?

Thanks,
Jim

Here's my install with the 14568:

New Front Pipe:

New 1st Tailpipe:

New 2nd Tailpipe:

The muffler is on a 45 deg. angle. The 2nd pipe is essentially flat out to the tip. Very clean set up. Picture show original tips. BABolt's polished SS tips installed later.

The left pipe on the inlet side had to be shortened, If you look close on both my and what04's pic you can see where the shop cut and welded the pipe.

If you look you can see I kept the last foot or so of the pipes so that way we could still use the last factory hanger.

I have the 14568 I think What04 does too.

I hope the 468 fits better. I want to be able to throw the stocker back on if I have to so I don't want to do any altering of the inlets. Guess we'll see Friday. I have a pretty cool doing it for. I will try to remember to take my digital cam along.

What these?

You absolutely, positively cannot have them. You can buy them from BABolt, however. Look around, you'll find the info.

Those are 3" Stainless Steel tips. Best labor saving devices ever made. Windex and a paper towel and they're clean. Easy peasy pie.

Got it installed today. Sounds great! Contrary to popular opinion about aftermarket exhaust not being too power productive, seat of the pants it feels a bit peppier.

Maybe its because I installed mandrel bent pipes to the tips
No crimped muffler ship pipe for me hehe
