lightnings in the Oregon area, look!!!!
on thursday i will be hosting some street racing for people in the beavertown, hillsboro, and portland area to come to. I just wanted to get a lightning out there because i have a friend with a supercharged Tacoma that thinks he can kick a lightning's ***, i believe otherwise. So if anyone that owns a lightning and wants to show this guy up, plus respond or email me at blades5374@aol.com
Street racing... dunno about that.
Let's make it a day at Woodburn, that way no one worries about getting caught, police stakeouts, etc. I like to go fast and I love my ride, but let's take it to the track. Or, just call me the gutless wonder...
Anyway, August 4th is Thunder Truck Drags at Woodburn for trucks only. I'm definately going to be there (only my 2nd time racing), so tell your Tacoma buddy to join us. Costs about $30- if you haven't raced there this season, and you get timeslips to prove your times.

Have to agree with Spoon on this one. Full out street drags, no thanks. Ocasional stop light run is fine. Take it to the track. Would like to see the s/c Tacoma. Where do you guys run these days? Alcoa used to be the hot spot.
Hey Spoon Dog its baby2000 i just wanted to ask you if you would like to meet at frys again on Agust the 4th so that we can go together please let me know i might have someone from here also go with me, the more lightings the better. By the way i should be getting my nitrous installed by the end on the week so i hope that i will be in the low 14s. I think that you should post this and i will post it in the nloc so that we can get more people.
trust me guys, this spot is so legit that we race at, we have even talked to the owner of the lot we race on, he is totally cool with us racing there and won't call the cops unless his property gets ruined somehow, we are way out on this back road that is in on the edge of business building, there is no security in these buildings, no video cameras, and just a large field, and no one to call the cops stating a disturbance, we aren't at very much risk of getting in trouble. When we race we are usally there and hour or two and won't have one unknown car within the area. We have gone there tons and have never had one problem with police. Please, my friend is really cheap and only has his truck because his daddy bought it for him, someone needs to show him who the king of the truck world is.

Definately! I need breakfast in the morning, so I'll be at Fry's at 7:30am with a departure time of 8am. The gates open at 9am, so we should get a pretty good spot it line.
If anyone else wants to meet, let us know. Like he said, the more the merrier!

If you're friend's that hard up, I'll spring for the $30- myself, or we'll take a collection from the Lightning bretheren for the entrance fee. I'm all up for a race, no matter who wins, but let's do this at the track.
Incidently, did anyone else notice the article in the Sports section of Monday's Oregonian? Looks like PIR had a "Beat the Heat" session, where us common folk can take on the local police in full-on track drag races. I don't know how I missed this, but it sounded fun as all get out. According to the article, the cops best was a 1992 IROC Camero with a 14.58"@92.53 mph. Next time...

It doesn't look like I will make the August 4th truck drags. That's the bad news. The good news I may have a commitment for the Tommy Bahama Trans-Am race at PIR that weekend. If things fall apart I will be there. Will not know until the last minute.
I drove my friend’s 2001 extended cab, 6 speed, supercharged Tacoma.
It's a fast truck but not fast enough to beat a lightning.
It has no low-end torque but when it hits the power band it really flies. That is ...... for a Toyota.
Now if they put a supercharged version of their V8 in it I think it would be able to compete with or even beat a lightning.
