Just recv'd my BellTech Drop Shackles
Lowner,
I just removed my AIM shackles last night.
1. Chock front wheels. Use a floor jack under the hitch (preferrably) or under the frame. Use Jackstands at the front end of the leaf spring at the hanger and adjust them according to the various heights of the truck... SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY..
2. Jack up the rear end until the rear wheels juuuust start to come off the ground, adjust jackstands.
3. Loosen and remove the hanger lower bolt on one side.
4. If the bolt points toward the fender, lower the truck EVER SO SLIGHTLY. BE CAREFUL!! A Spotter is a BIG help here. This will allow you to slide the spring bolt out between the frame and the bottom of the bed instead of muscling the leaf spring, BTDT. IF they point inwards, be prepared to spend a few minutes with a box wrench removing the nut.
5. Remove the stock shackle and insert the longer unit. Note the "U" shape of the shackle needs to face the bumper.
6. Raise the truck so the shackle lines up with the hanger.
7. Apply grease to the bushings, insert hanger bolt, tighten everything down.
8. Repeat on other side.
Hope this helps.
