Ls1 / Lt1 ???
The LT1 was put into the new vettes back in 1992 and ran util 1996. The LT1 was put into the f-bodys in 1993 and ran until 1997. It's a reverse cooled motor; meaning that the heads get the coolant first because they increased the compression ratio to 10.5 and needed to do this for detonation and other issues. The LS1 was put into the vettes in 1997 and still are being used. This motor has had some problems with pushrods being bent if you over-rev it. Some shops have come out with stronger valve springs to eliminate this. The heads on the LS1 have to be about the best designed heads out; the potential for performance is huge. Some say they are world-class in design and performance. The LS1 vs. the LT1 stock-for-stock in the motor to get.

Mephisto steps into the room. LOL!
The LS1 is quicker. The LS1 has a 6 bolt main aluminum block that displaces 346ci. The stock heads flow around 235cfm on the intake which is better than some aftermarket and ported LT1 heads. Ported LS1/LS6 heads have reached over 300cfm but the cars are hindered by the lack of intake manifolds. The LS6 intake manifold out flows the LS1 but only flows about 220cfm. The LS1 has a .500 lift cam stock. Stock the LT1 is quicker up to about 40. With bolt on mods the LS1 is quicker across the board. The ones to watch out for are the automatics with a stall. More than one person has hit mid 11s (11.5s) with 115mph traps with just bolt on mods in them and sub 7.50 1/8ths get common. Average times stock for the two are 14.1-14.0 for the LT1 and 13.5-13.3 for the LS1. Better/worse drivers will run faster or slower than this. The LS1 car is alot lighter than the LT1. My automatic LS1 weighed 3450 while my friends 6 speed LT1 weighed 3680.
