What 60 ft. times you getting @ track?
What 60 ft. times you getting @ track?
What is a realistic 60 ft. times in an 01 L with chip and filter?
The reason I ask is because this guy I work with has a anniversary T/A(blue anodized wheels and blue stripes,99 I think)
and says his 60 ft. times are 1.4!!! I know he has put a t/converter,3.73's and maf. He wants to run me,but Im wondering If Im gonna get my a$$ handed to me.
My L is at its quickest from a stop.

Skank Dog,
If he can do 1.4 60' times, and I say if, he will destroy you. I doubt that he really does 1.4's but with the stock F1's I have been running 1.9's so if he was racing me he would pull a half second on me right out of the box.
I hope this helps. Bill

i ran 1/4 mile for the first time last night and my best on my F1s was 1.99 and last week i ran 1/8 and best was 2.05. our track pretty much isnt prepped during test and tune though, so im sure it could be better.
I've pulled 1.68 on stock street tires in my 99 Z28. With stickey tires and spraying off the line he could do it with the converter and 3.73s. 1.4s are kind of on the extreme side of 60's for a LS1. I did mine with a converter, stock 3.23s and stock Goodyear RSAs. With stickies I could see him squeeking into the 1.5s depending on the converter.
On F1's any where from 2.1 to 1.9 depending if the track is preped well. Our best 60' was a 1.66 w/ ET Streets, 3.73 gears, and Nitrous.

Thanks fellas, that gives me an idea what Im up against! Not what I wanted to hear, but thanks!
He's pretty confident about his car,so Ill let ya know what happens. I think maybe he's stretching the truth a little though about his 60 ft. times. If he aint, well, guess me and the L will come back home and lick our wounds!

I have a very hard time believing that your friend is pulling 1.4 60 foots in an LS1 with only 3.73s, MAF, and a converter. The power just isn't there even if the traction is. He would have to be spraying hard.
I had a '99 30th Anniversary Trans Am (i.e. like his) 6-spd with Borla exhaust, MAF, Lid, filter, and B&M Ripper shifter and managed mostly 2.1 and 2.2 60 foots (I know, I suck). My 2001 stock Lightning usually pulls around 2.0 60 foots. I agree that his auto LS1 with gears and converter would probably eat my lunch out of the hole, but not by 6 car lengths.
Race him I say.

Shank, go for it. Just go into it light and not serious. Make sure he knows your going into it with the thought of "hey cool, I'm racing a fast TA with a pickup truck, this will be a fun..."
I suggested this once before to someone else, show up with a bail of hay in the bed, just to highlight the fact that it's a PICKUP. If he beats you, it won't be by much and he has to drive off knowing he almost got beat by a new, not broken in pickup hauling hay. If you beat him, well you can guess the results (lots of tears)
PS. Toss the hay before you race, you need everything you've got

Ok. even on some real good tires with spray maybe.
but I dont think so
There was a Grand National (******ing jakcked)at the 1/8 wed and he was running 8.4 and 8.6. and that is what your buddy has, more or less.
my 01 stock does 2.0 's and 9.1 to 9.3 .
with JL help the chip fileter and cold air I got 2.0 and 8.7 8.8 all day long at the track. and that is with the pulley program on it but no pulley.
tires are coming out for our trucks next month too (nittos) I know I will almost see 7, with those and pulley and with little pray I will for sure.
there was a stang that has 400hp rear hp with slicks and he was at 7.7.
just know race that dude with your mods and if you loose you will to a very fast car. Take it for the team. If he will get you it will not be by alot. .3 in the 1/8 is about two cars at 82 mph.
later Gotor

My best is 7.80 with only 321rwhp and that was on the stock tires. It's not about how much HP you have, it is how you apply it. The big difference is in the converter. Off the line I have over 500ftlbs of torque. Once I get out of first I never see it again because my shifts do not drop me below 4K. That is the nature of a high stall converter. You can only see it if you can lock the tranny into third gear for the dyno.
Here is a copy of the timeslips and my dyno stock vs mods.
