The New M3

How well do you think the new M3 BMW will compete with the Lightning. I heard the 0-60 is in the four second range but am not sure about quarter mile times. It's a pretty sweet looking car.

Stock vs. stock, I believe the M3 is faster.

Car & Driver puts the '01 M3:

0-60: 4.7 seconds
1/4 mile: 13.4 @ 106mph

I've been on the waiting list now for about 7 months... only 12 more to go...

its a sweet ride!

No doubt about it! It's plenty faster. And with DSC(Dynamic Stability Control), it launches very well. I drove one a couple of months ago when I was in the Bay Area. They wanted sticker + $10k for a Smurf(Laguna Seca) Blue demo with 900 miles on it! To get the color I wanted, Titanium Silver, it would have been $15 over MSRP + 3 weeks! No way I could swing that.

Talking Work the bugs out first....

I know a Lucent VP in Dallas who has an M5...he cusses it...too many problems...the M3 needs about 2-3 more years to work the bugs out....for this kind of money the AMG Mercedes models... seem to be of higher quality...this is coming from people I have spoken with...and numerous internet information widely available...

02 M3 with sequential shift on order. Laguna Seca Blue with gray interior. Have seen some posts on a couple of BMW boards that people have hit the high 12's stock.

Silver-Bolt,

Do you actually like the Smurf Blue? I must admit after driving the car, the color actually didn't look bad. But after my afterglow wore off, I could help but hate it again.

Am I the only one who sees something wrong with this picture? 16 and given an 01' M3. How rich/stupid are his parents. Do they need another son?
