Made it into the 12's

went to the track tonight with IBFAST. Temp in the 80's with high humidty. trying to let the truck cool down when it started to sprinkle, made a dash to the lanes, got there just in time, truck was still very warm from the drive to the track. They still let me run with it sprinkleing. here is what happened

R/T .558
60' 1.79
1/8th 8.096
1/4 12.68@ 107.51

Had my wipers on going down the track!
My Mods are,
JL nos chip
90mm mass air and k&n
75 shot of nos
JL power cooler
flowmasters.
ET-streets.
Lower pulley on order from JL!

Must say that I was at full weight with the hitch and cover, but without the spare tire.
The chip shifted great. I know the truck will go faster in better conditons. I also for got to lower tire pressure. I had it a 30#s

Congrats! I hope to be there soon. You've got more guts than me driving on ET streets @ 100+ in the rain

lightning Jeff Jul 18, 2001 09:57 PM

They even let the car behind me make a pass before they shut it down. when I had my L parked next to Gregs L a guy in a chevy truck drives by and says, Nice Dodges. I hope he was joking.

Congrats jeff, most of us hit the 12,s club with 12.90s at first but going from 13.20s to 12.60s is impressive with the 100%humidity ,84 degrees and raining no less.I only hope i can resist my new found urge for nitrous.See ya in two weeks.

Jeff: if you come to byron next weekend we can hook up the A/F monitor to check your A/F's and get your A/F's perfect! let me know....JL

HANKFAN Jul 19, 2001 12:49 AM

Jeff- When did you acitvate the nitrous? I have only hit it in 2nd gear. I wonder how much ET reduction would you see if you activated the nitrous mid -way through 1st gear?

lightning Jeff Jul 19, 2001 06:48 AM

JL, I think that I will be going to Bryon next week.
Hankfan, The nos kicked on roughly 1 sec after I left the line. 12's are nice, 11's look better.
Matt, Greg, are you guys going to Bryon for the NMRA?

RDY2RAC Jul 19, 2001 07:02 AM

i'll be at byron next week can't wait hey jl if you happen to stop back by and look at this did you have a chance to see about a chip programmed for the pro-m :D robert staley robertstaley@peoplepc.com

HANKFAN Jul 19, 2001 02:06 PM

Jeff- Are you spinning at all when the nitrous activates in frist gear? How is the 1-2 upshift? Is it a violent upshift and is there any wheel spin on the 1-2 upshift? The reason why I ask is that I have an up coming must win street race on my hands with a mustang running a 175hp shot and I would like to activate the nitrous right after the launch in first gear. I am just wondering if even with ET Streets if I will get wheelspin in first if I actiavte the nitrous right after the initial lanch on the street? Any suggestions?

Also Jeff are you using a bottle heater? If not you really need to get one. You would not believe the difference in power between running your bottle at 600-700 psi vs 950 psi. It's a whole different ball game plus it makes the purge look cool as hell!!

lightning Jeff Jul 19, 2001 02:31 PM

Yes I do need a bottle heater, My shifts were great at every shift. A little wheelspin off the line but no spin in the 1 to 2 shifts. I really had the tires warm from the burnout. With the street tires on it is a different story. Alot of wheelspin.
Most of the time I run my ET Streets at 16#s.

lightning Jeff,

I saw that your live in St. Johns, Mi and I had to reply to one of your posts. I grew up in Ithaca, Mi and spent some time in and around St. Johns. My aunt lives in St. Johns. I guess it's a small world huh??

I went through there last summer and I couldn't believe that US27 bypass around downtown (I design roads for a living). Then I saw that they are building an interchange north of St. Johns on 27 in North Star. I have a lot of family still up there but moved to Florida when I was 13 back in 83.

Hope you get this message. I saw pictures of your truck in another post and those flames look great!
