Hello boys,

Now I know I am going to get flamed for posting this in the L forum, but u guys seem to know the most about performance of various trucks.

I have a 1998 5.4 FlareSide Reg. Cab w. intake + exhaust.

My enemy has a Dodge Ram SS/T with a 360 cu. in motor.

Now I have no idea what these Dodge (pos trucks lol) can do. He says he'll smoke me before I even get on the gas pedal.

So my question is, what do these SS/T's run in the 0-60, 1/4 mile and how much power are their engines pushing??

He has all thes girls around him and I would like to embarass him. Its too bad my L hasn't come yet. I ordered a 2001 Red L , but I have to race this guy now, so I'll be running my 1998 5.4 l

Who will win? Take a guess, becuase I have no idea and I dont want to be utterly embarassed.

And do you know what just hit me? Ford makes the best looking trucks out there. Gm, Chevy, Dodge, Nissan, Toyota's trucks dont look as good as these.

I get compliments from everyone, while the black dodge guy gets none!! I'll bet I'll get even more stares with my Red Rocket L coming in 4 months lol!

I ran one of those fire-breathing beasts a few months ago and got utterly smoked by the thing. He looked mostly stock, as far as I could tell, with the possible exception of some exhaust work.

Befor you get too scared, I should mention that the 'Bolt was parked on the grass down by the 1/8-mile traps and I was flogging the wife's Benzo ML320. He spanked me pretty good (I recall he ran around a 15.8), but had a really slow 1/4 mile trap speed (no top end at all - 78 MPH if I remember correctly). I was actually running him down pretty well on the top end of the track. Given a bit more track, I would have blown past him in a WHOOOOSH of silver.

Relatively speaking, those things are slugs with a lot of silly stickers. However, you'd better be able to step up to the plate with something in the mid-15's to be somewhat confident about taking him out.

As for 0-60 times, I'd guess that they run in the 7's or 8's. The one I ran seemed to launch pretty good (no wheelspin to speak of), but then again I felt like I was nailed to the 'tree in that damn Benz.

 

Supposedly an SS/T runs 8.4 o-60 and 16.6 in the 1/4 and a 99 F-150 w/ a 5.4 runs 8.0 and 16.2 according to car-stats.com

 

Race him, you'll win.

 

maybe some things to think about:
run down all your gas to the bare minnimum.
take out ALL your stereo stuff
empty every piece of paper, cd, etc. out of your truck.
warm the tires or use a sand bag or two.
slam the gas and win.

 

I think you'll win. His only shot would be if he had some intake mods. Those 360's can't breathe worth a crap. The 5.4 (at least mine) pulls hard all the way to redline. Go for it!
