Angry Curbed a Rim Last Night

Comin to a 4 way intrsection and tried to squeeze between the people making a left and i didn't realize i was so close to the curb. When i made my right, i turned the wheel slightly and boom. Anyone know how to fix this, or if there is a sand paper that is a high enough grit to smooth it out?? Thanks

Nope. They're painted....

You might find a silver touchup in the automotive section...

So painting it ismy only option, other than buying a new rim, which i wont do because its only like 5 inches long.

I'd buy a new wheel and tire from tirerack.com for $400.00 and keep that one as a full size spare.

I got l slightly bent and 1 curb scraped Racing Hart m5's on my Supra (Silver center with polished & clearcoated rims) Local Wheel Wizard shop made them look exactly like new, including new clearcoat. $189 for bent & $150 for curb scrape. Check your local area to find reputable shop. Locate some satisfied customers. Hope this helps.

If it is just a scrape get a file and file any roughr edges. Then take some of that black sandpaper and sand it smooth. Then get some touch up paint and you will be all set.

I had the same thing happen to me and unless I told you where the scrape is you could never find it.

Good luck

Don

Is there a particular grit sandpaper that is best to use??? The rim isn't badly scraped, i mean it didn't even effect the shape of the outside of it. there is hardly any dfference, but i know its there. Kinda like a mental thing. But, i would try to get some snd paper, but what kinda paint should i use?? Just any old paint, or, for an idea, go to the dealership and get some silver paint, the kind thats on the L, and touch it up. thanks for the help

Thumbs up

You will have to experiment with diffent gritts of sand paper, start with a medium and then go finer and finer. I got some touch up paint at pep boys.

If you are in the Bay Area of CA, there is a shop that will fix the rim for you. I hit the curb when I first bought the truck. The edge of the rim was all tore up. He said he could smooth out the rim & repaint. The only reason I didn't go through him is the dealership ended up sending me a replacement rim for free.
Let me know & I'll look up the number.

I'd go with that black 1500 grit sand paper. That's what my bro-in-law uses to get scratches out of my paint.

Take it to a wheel doctor

I think just take it to a wheel doctor. They will fic perfesionally and make it look brand new. I even take my wheels to them just to get cleaned and polished. They do awsome work and it's cheep.
