Gates belt for big pulley
I know someone talked about it before (maybe BBQ or Clonetek), but I can't find it for the life of me. Do any of y'all know what Gates belt (part #) to use when swapping out the lower puley? I know the stock one will work (sometimes), but I've been having a LOT of slippage with a newly installed OEM belt and decided that while I've got the thing apart to install the pulley, I might as well throw on a better belt. Thanks for any help y'all can offer.

I run the shorter gates belt with the PSP pulley, its part # K080660. You will have to break the stop tab on the belt tensioner. I just put a breaker bar in the tensioner and gave it a good tug and it pops right off, then you can move it enough to get the shorter belt on. I think the K080660 is about .200 of an inch shorter than stock, and it really kicks the S/C in the A$$, if you know what I mean.

Dale-
Doing that won't put too much tension on the snout and its internals? I haven't really looked at the tab yet, but it seems that if you have to go through those lengths it might not be so good. But again, Sal and Spiro both said it was no biggie...

Hi DUCK
I understand your concern about the bearings in the supercharger, this crossed my mind also. But then I was thinkin that the spring in the tensioner probably sacks out or looses some tension over time and with the larger pulley and slightly shorter belt it would put the spring tension back to stock or maybe a little better than stock.
As far as it being to much tension, I guess I'll find out one of these days.
Also I would like to thank Sal for the tip on the tensioner stop, very simple and very effective.

This is a good number for the longer belt although, my NAPA man said he had to drop the 'K' to get it on his computer. I'm using it on my lower pulley with no noticeable belt slippage.
