filter number question?

Ok, I did a search and read all the posts and varying views on oil to be used. I plan on running the 5-20 in my 2001 and I plan to use conventional oil until probably 5000 miles and then switch to either amsoil or mobil 1.

Ok, my question is on oil filter, I read several older posts and they seemed to say that the motorcraft oil filter is a very good filter and is made by purolater.

What filter do you run and my main question is on part number for the filter? The idiot I talked to at the ford counter made pretty much no sense and said I think it is the same on all the f150's.....I don't like that answer and the fact that he did not even look it up and I said can't you look it up. He said I think we have something on the Lightning, just not sure where it is or what it is.

I left feeling a little less than confident with this guy. I said I was pretty sure that I could get parts through any ford dealer for the Lightning. He just kind of looked at me like....uh....duh.....beavis.....duh........uh...u h.

So I said I will come back when someone else is working and left.

What brand and part number of oil filter do you guys use on the 2001's (not sure if it is different than 99-00's) ?

Thanks
Paul

Motorcraft FL-820S

I go to WallyMart and buy 3-4 at a time. They are about the least expensive place for them.

Thanks Don,

That is exactly what I was looking for. I noticed last time I was in walmart that they sell the motorcraft oil also, is it the same as what the dealer uses or is there a difference?

Just curious what oil do you use?

Paul

Thumbs up

The Motorcraft(yes Purolator) are good and so is the Mobil1 filter(expensive though).

BTW, it is the same number for all the 5.4's and I believe the 4.6's.

Yes, they all use the same filter. I use the K&N filter(forgot the no.) and Royal Purple #11(5w20) synthetic. Amsoil and Mobil 1(no 5w20, yet) are primo too.
