Exclamation I Need Help Choosing Aftermarket Parts!

I need professional(or not) input about aftermarket parts for my 2001 Lightning. I have around 5k to spend on the engine I'm hoping to have it dip into the 12's in the 1/4 mile without sacrificing drivability and reliability. I would like to stay away from NOS and stuff that puts my warranty and my engine in danger(speaking from experience on my last 98 F-150). I would appreciate everyones input and advice (professional or not :P). Also I was thinking of throwing on the Borla or Bassani Cat Back Exhaust as well as headers, I still dont know what ECU or Chip to choose. Anyone Got any ideas?

Thanks a lot

Sam

You can look at my sig. and see what I'm using 'now'. Never satisfied. You'll get dozens of opinions here. Personally, I think the three top chip tuners are all good(I'm on my third chip-in two trucks).

You probably won't get many responces on this because so much has been posted on this topic. Just keep on 'clicking' and you'll find more than you ever wanted to know about mods.

Check out the signatures/profiles of the members. You should have no problem getting into the 12's with the right bolt ons. You can start by calling a tuner. As you can see in my signature, I use Johnny Lightning parts. http://www.johnnylightningperf.com

Sam I have a silver 01 also. I ran a JL Diablo chip, and a PSP lower blower pulley and it ran pretty consistant 13.30's at WFC. Best time so far has been 13.20 @ 105.9 on the stock F1 tires. I just added a JL ram air kit/filter last Friday, and I have heard that there might be an updated version of the 01 chip from Diablo that might add even more power, ect. The driveablilty I think is the same as stock maybe even better.

Later,
Bill

Chip, filter, and upper or lower pulley. Save your money on headers. No one has produced any evidence of gain with exhaust mods including complete header to exhaust tip systems(such as Bassini). You can change the mufflers for a better sound than the stock Escort muffler with Magnaflow(one dual in/out), Ravin(2 single in/out), or Flowmasters92 single in/out). Heard a set of Ravins and a Magnaflow the other nite and both sound good under load. Had Flows on my '99 and my '00 and not that impressed.

Those three mods with some wheels and slicks and cooler fall air(or chiller) should get you a 12 sec run.
