first pass at drag strip...

ive had my L for a week now and i put a diablo chip in it and went to the drag strip last night with a friend that got us in free. It was race night, not test and tune, and they were running 8th mile instead of quarter, but he got me a free pass down the track between rounds.

compare this to yours on street tires, completely hot engine, driven right off the road, with a lot of moisture in the air, and nothing but a diablo chip.

60 ft - 2.05
8th - 8.76
mph - 81.67

next week im gonna run the quarter, because i swear it was pulling the hardest after i went through the lights.

also, my friend is a diablo dealer, and we put what they call the "380 rear wheel hp" program on my chip. anyone else running this, and whats up with the JL diablo chips? do they not use diablo's programs on the chips, or are they the same, but just sold by JL?

Well, you did better than I did last nite. Noooo traction("I can't git no satisfaction"). Tire spin out the whazoo--the tech guy told me as I stopped to raise the t/gate (as I was finished for the nite--18 passes--all 'hot' runs), "your truck tires were still spinning at the 1/8 lite".

89F, 29.90 BP, low humidity, slight cross-wind, 7:35pm---

Best times--12th run...

60'.......2.195
1/8......8.830
1/4....13.593
@ 102.88(best mph was on 11th @103.43

I kept lowering rear psi-down to 30-hot-27-cold(this am). No joy! Got to get some slicks--duhhh.

Lightningrod,

Sounds like you had a full night. Sorry I missed it. Looks like my son has a case of mono. He was one sick puppy. Anyhoo, we'll get down there soon.

I found out my truck doesn't like the heat last night and I have to figure out how to launch the Lightning without screaming the tires like a banshee!! 7 runs last night -

Best run in the 1/4 and 1/8 (5th vs. a Camaro - lost by 1/2 sec.):
R/T: .756
60': 2.286
1/8: 9.434 @ 77.33
1/4: 14.560 @ 95.78

Best R/T (1st vs. a Saturn with a high performance fart pipe - won by 5 full sec.):
R/T: .713
60': 2.285
1/8: 9.495 @ 76.70
1/4: 14.659 @ 95.13

I couldn't break 95, and you can see by my reaction times (I was beating vettes of the line by almost a full second!!) versus my 60' that I was spinning like mad! If I could have avoided the spinning last night, I probably would have got low 14s high 13s. You also have to consider the teperature at the track in Ennis, TX, last night was around 100 degrees and the humidity was pretty high up there. Hopefully next trip will be more productive!
