MAF problem?

My 99L died today driving, and when I try to start it it will start up but die right away, even when I try to give it gas. However if I unplug the MAF sensor It still wants to die, as it should without the sensor, but I can at least keep the engine going by revving it. Does this mean I have a bad MAF sensor?

I should also mention the checkengine light has been on awhile and lately I have noticed that if it sits at idle, it begins to flutter a little and sound like it wants to quit, until I give it gas, and then it is fine.

Any suggestions? Thanks !

Step 1. Find the code
Step 2. Post the code for instructions on a possible fix.
