91 octane in California?
91 octane in California?
I have been thinking about getting a 4-way chip and doing the lower pulley but I am consurned about only being able to get 91 octane for my 2001 Lightning.
Would the tuners be able to tune for the bad gas we get in California?

I run 92 octane in Arizona and have had nothing but knocking problems in the past. The JDM original version burned for California has no knocking, but the JDM "hot weather program" knocks. With high ambient temps and crappy fuel, you can expect knocking when you install a chip.
The comment made from the other member about how Ford says it is ok to run 91, is only valid in stock form. When you put a chip on and lean the air fuel mixture and advance the timing, then what Ford says about your stock vehicle is obviously no longer valid.

I've been running Shell or 76 92 octane with my Swanson chip. I have haver had any detonation at all. I would think if I were going to see detonation, I would have been at Famosa, running at full weight in 100+ degrees. No problemo!
When it is time to add a lower pulley, I'll take it back to Danny for a dyno session. That way, I will that it is safe and happy.

Yes that photo was taken at Carllsbad! You see my truck as a Vergin there never been run before. By the way the Red mustang
went out of its way to make sure it got to race my truck
It was evident to me after seeing the guy stage that he had never been to a track before and he ended up running 16s against me lol
Here is another photo from me waiting across the street for the track to open.
