Angry Rant!

I am a member! A lowly (not as low as junior member though)
I have been here a few months, and how is it that newbies (who started weeks after I did) get rewarded for posting a million times (asking questions they should search for) as Senior Members. I have had all of the same damn questions, but was able to search and get my answers. Why the fug can't others figure it out!!!!

Ok I'm done...Just expressing my opinion.

Post 100 messages and become a senior member.

We appreciate your use of the search feature. Once the FAQ is back up - the Moderators will be taking a hard line stance on those types of duplicate simple question posts.

thulsadoom, I see that you live in Fremont, CA! I go there about three times a year for business. Nice Town! Just can't get use to all that traffic . I am in the semiconductor industry(imagine that), and all traveling is to the silicon valley area. The last time I was there me and a co-worker were trying to find our school at 11:30 at night and all of a sudden there were these headlights coming at me fast. After about three seconds I realized they were drag racing. We stopped and watched and even got asked to put our rental car in the competition('00 V6 Mustang). I got my a$$ handed to about 10 times. I wish I had the L at that moment

Doug, in an online community I feel it wouldn't be wise to crack down against "newbies" or those who haven't the understanding of the whole BBS system yet. You want to encourage interaction not discourage it. Even so, sometimes people ask questions purposely just so they can get some additional feedback or some new enlightenment on the issue at hand.

This forum is like being in front of a lot of friends all talking about similar things, one pops up and asks a question, and they answer it. Telling that friend he should go read through a book or an FAQ isn't in the best interest of creating good relations.

Granted, we all wish this place could be similar to Corner-Carvers.com where you're expected to be "in the know" and to reply or post in serious form with merited intent. That place makes it because it has a small base of individuals that banded together to create a community of absolute facts. They're expected to stay small and ultimately will prevail. But in this F150online.com community it's expected to grow and get larger, and it's devised differently from sites like CC.

I know there is a lot of repeat posts on here, but the ones that need to be singled out are the quick 1 or 2 sentence responses of BS that has nothing to do with the subject line in question, or replies like, "Yeah, I want to know too!" on a post that asks where can you get motor oil in 5w-30 form. The majority of us are guilty of it in one form or another <G>.

Have you and Steven given any thought to creating a whole seperate sub-forum just for the Lightnings? I know it sounds crazy at first, but it's apparent that the majority of Lightning owners want to stay in the same area as their brethen.

Please, take this only as an idea or some advice. It's not meant to tell you that you're doing something wrong, because you're not Just maybe the time to give the Lightning guys it's own subforum with its own categories is due. This would keep many a things out of this 1 forum and encourage them to talk elsewhere. It's worth a try and I feel it'll work.

Take care buddy,

BfB

Ditto. There is always more to learn. I am definetly guilty of posting questions I know I could search for and find. Sometimes it out of laziness, other times it's to get more opinions or opinions of people who weren't around back when it was first covered.

Once the FAQ is back in shape, I will be more consistant in referring people to it. And Will make it easier to find. That is all.

If you look at the list of frequent posters it is mostly 2001 owners. Many of the 99 and 00 owners are lurkers at best. I think it will be to eveyones interest to keep the posts on topic and reduce the redundant posts. The New board allows merging threads which will make that easier.

Doug
