Who Cares???

Who cares about repeat questions. If you don't want to read the question you never have to. Sorry but some of these guys are uneducated about how to use a message board. I know this was the first board I became a member to. I didn't have a clue. I agree that sometimes it is annoying, but remember you were also that newbie asking the same questions over again just like evryone else. On the 2 sentance responses that are just pointless like - "Hey look I have 186 post" Those are just gay.

Doug, I agree, but would also like to point out that trying to get me out of this Lightning forum and up into "Engines" or another forum just isn't going to happen. Maybe that's crude of me saying, but I like to be around others who share the same interest & vehicles.

But if you created the Lightnings own sub-forum I would. Take for instance...

Sub Catergory:

Ford SVT Lightning

Forums:

Powertrain
Suspension
Racing
Electronics
Care & Maintenance
Lounge

This would help out a LOT of the situations we're having tremendously. I know there are other areas on this board for forums like I just stated, but you're not going to get Lightning owners away from each other. It's just impossible. It's like asking Mustang guys to interact in the same forum as Camaro guys. It's an F150 in body, but it's soul is MUCH different.

Nah, leave it like it is...I like to think the Lightning forum is the epitome of Forrest's most famous quotes: "Run, Lightning! Run!" and "The Lightning Forum is like a box of chocolates, you never know what kind of stuff's inside."

Unfortunately, it's cramped in here by way far. Doing what I suggested would more than alleviate the problem and would make this place more interesting than it already is. You'd get the box of chocalates still, yet you would know right where to look for it: A Lightning LOUNGE!

Times are a changin' on the board. A year ago there wasn't nearly as much B&M (bitching and moaning) about people asking questions. I don't remember anyone complaining about the 100+ post thread asking CA to marry them. Or any of the other off topic posts. And what about all those posts discussing motor oil? That was part of the fun and kept it interesting. Plus I now know more about oil than I ever knew that I needed to know.

What's really interesting is that some of the people I see doing the B&M now are some of the very members that were involved in a lot of the 20 questions and off topic posts. I'm not naming any names but one of the members I now see quickly snap out "do a search and stop wasting my time" is one that used to ask many of the same questions that gets asked over and over now. I even remember him being pi$$ed when he was told "do a search". But I guess since he has gathered all of the info he needs he can't be bothered to pass any of that along to the new members. And you know what, you can expect it to start all over again when (if) the '02 starts hitting the street.

To quote LOCOSVT - "The Lightning Forum is like a box of chocolates, you never know what kind of stuff's inside." True, true.

And Bfb, I have to say that while I often have think about some of your statements, I agree with you on this.

He's right though. Most lightning guys here really only chat with other lightning owners. And splitting up this forum into a few others would really help make things less confusing, like searches, and also to keep the usefull information seperate from the non usefull everyday chats.

So it all it takes to be "gay" is to write a two sentEnce response? Or is the POST "gay" bescause it only has 2 sentEnces? Or is it becuse people like to have there post totals go up? I'm a little in the dark on this one,can anyone enlighten me? LOL,how ridiculous.

In all seriousness though I think there should be more stages to "memberships",like for membership longevity,POST TOTALS(OH HEAVEN FORBID!) and such.

I agree, I wonder if in the future if the vBB will be able to distinguish much like a FICO score by FairIssac (uhhhg, they aren't always up to snuff either...many discriminatory errors within them) and take into account your length and total posts within a specific time period. hehe

Actually, it gives date Registered and how many posts, so this is really pointless to debate. The names under the username should be changed from anything to do with "member" and allow us to select our own, and if it's not possible then it should be deleted all together.
