Question Need help with appearance mod...

Hey guys,

I am planning on painting the black plastic around the rear window and around the third break light silver to match my truck. I was just wondering how much this should cost me, and how much the people who did it were charged. Oh yea and I also just dropped the back of my truck 2 inches with some Belltech shackles! It looks bitchen and I will post some pics as soon as I find my digital camera.

Thomas:

Total cost shouldn't be more than $100.00 to paint.
They do have to smooth the entire piece to remove all of the texture. Make them tape of the entire rubber seal all the way around it. You'll only want them to paint the plastic, not the rubber.

You'll have to remove the entire rear window to take off the trim. There are nuts under the headliner and under the backwall trim.
Takes about 2-3 hours if you take your time. There is black glue that holds it in place. You should be able to restick it with the existing glue that is there. It's messy, be careful...

What I did was buy a new one from Ford($50+-) and have it painted. When it was done, I pulled it all apart. Not a bad mod for $150.00.

Good Luck!

Cap:

I'll have to hunt for one or take one for you. It's a great mod.

Cool

Hey Tom, would love to see your L with the drop. If you aren't busy, cruise on by Cruisers Car Wash this Friday around 8:00 pm, I'll definately be there, probably parked next to the 10 sec Typhoon(BLack). Also, i've been thinking about painting my trim black, so any info you get on painting yours, please share.

Thx for all the info Tampa, I am going to see the guy tomorrow. I will keep you guys updated with whats going on. Marcus, I can't make it because I am up in Lake Arrowhead right now, and I have to work on friday. I will be sure to show you though when I come down the mountain. I think I will be down in a couple weeks, right before I go to Europe. I am also thinking about shaving my tailgate but not sure if I want to keep the bubble look or make everything straight.

Rich- very nice, might have to look into that mod now. By the way, does your L corner and handle turns better with the Belltech drop and shocks?

Still haven't installed the rear BellTech's yet, but already an improvement over stock.
