Alignment Blues. Input Welcome!!
Ok, here we go.
I installed Herbs washers & NAPA Camber bolts in 4 places on upper control arms. I then try to have aligned 27 miles North of me, and find out they cannot do it because of the 18" wheels.
Fast Forward........ I make an appointment in Vegas, have to get up here at 4am. Leave before 5am to be on time at 8am for the alignment. The owner of the shop is real kocky. I give him the specs for the alignment and he says "We have these in our machine already". Guess what? They have '99 F150 specs in their machine.
Anyways............. They spend 1.5 hours aligning the '01 L. He has the steering wheel off a bit & cause he's picky, he makes it right.
The truck has pulled to the right since I picked it up from them. I jump NO curbs, and do NO off-roading in my L.
I called them back today, as I figure I paid $97 for 1.5hours of alignment, and I really don't think it should pull to the right. It didn't pull before the alignment.
Now get this........... I, like most people, automatically have STUPID written all over my face, whch can be seen over the phone. The guy I talk to remembers me & the truck. He begins to explain how all specs make cars pull to the right so that if you fall asleep............. you will not hit someone head-on. It's magnified with the crown of the roads etc.............. I want to strangle someone. He says he stands behind his work and all that. But he says to fix it to not pull.............. He'll have to put it out of specs................................
Lets hear some input................
Does everyones L pull to the right?
Remember that I have my own auto-repair shop & I'm pretty stupid.
Thanks for all input.

My 2001 doesn't pull to the right unless the road has a lot of crown in it. I live in a small town and some of the roads are really bad, you know they keep putting small layers of asphalt on top of it and cut it down at the curbs, so the road starts to really look odd and of course you pull to the right on these type roads.
My steering wheel has been off just a bit to the right since I got it. I did not notice it much until I was almost home. The dealership I bought at is like 4-5 hours away, so I am not too concerned especially since I can fix it myself. My last 3 trucks have had the same steering wheel problem. Just off a bit. Not much but for me (perfectionist) it has to be centered.
I am not an alignment specialist, so I do not know if they are feeding you a line of crap or telling the truth. I would prefer my truck drive straight when the steering wheel is let go of. Mine does and I would request that they do this.
My 2 cents

The right side caster should be ahead of the left side by about 1/2 degree to compensate for the crown in the road, try this simple thing, swap your front tires,,, you might have a radial tire pull that showed itself when the truck was properly aligned... it happens to me sometimes, I will put on 4 new tires and align the vehicle, take it for a test drive, and have a pull one way or another, so I swap the front tires and it will either pull the other way or not at all.. if it pulls the other way, I either get another tire or put it on the back.. good luck.... JJ
JJ's Whitelight is most likely correct. Temporarily swap the front tires. Although they are unidirectional, it won't hurt for a short 2/3 minute drive. If it pulls the other way, it's the tires.
BTW,mine pulls to the right. I did the quick above and pull change from the right to the left, confirming it was a radial pull. After doing a rotation (front to rear) and balance, it still pulls to the right but much less.

Mine does not pull to any side, also have the Herb washers and the cambolts.
I have been running .75 camber, 1.5 and now 3 degrees. No pulling except on very badly crowned roads. The test is, if it pulls the same to the left when driving on the left, as if overtaking someone...
