Cool

Maybe thats why Ford is putting the L engine in the HD Super Crew. If Ford has contraced to build X amount of S/C engines they have got to do something with them.

I've been saying this for 2 years now, ford has made to many L's already. it takes away from the uniquness of the truck.

I'm glad some people have an L, but come on, probably 50% of the people who own them didn't know what it was until they saw it that day on the lot at the dealer. Not that there's nothing wrong with that, but I think this is the type of vehicle that sombody should want before they even get to see one in person. Dodge told all the Dakota RT owners that there would be a limited number of those produced to, and then the next year everybody and there moma had one. Now I must see two or three RT's a day atleast. I see probably 1 L a week now, and its too much for me. I hate having the same car as everybody else, but its kinda cool having something in common with other people too. I just wonder what other non f150online L owners think when I drive past them and they see my truck, (if its a real L, or if its even a L). I've had people ask me that allot, did you make that truck look like that?

Anyway, I really hope ford doesn't make anymore L's next year too! Hey there's two brand new 01's at my dealer and two used 00's at my dealer too. Four lightnings have been sitting at that dealer for the past two months, that should never happen with a vehicle like that, NEVER!

I bought and paid for my truck in full before I even saw the damn thing, The day I drove it home from the dealer I already owned it for 1 month. But I do have the 1st year of the baddest pickup truck ever made! This is a touchy subject to me. I wish that SVT would build a lightningR, with a 4 valve motor, cooler wheels, recaro seats, better curves and really really really low production numbers, I would pay 20K over sticker for that!

IF YOU BUILD IT I WILL BUY IT! come on SVT do it!!!!!!

This was posted over on our forum by 1BADTK. I am pasting it here:
"Talked with Ford OPC, (Order Processing Center) earlier today and there isn't and thing in the system about 2002 Lightnings. This could be an indication they will not be available, unless their status changes later in the year. Usually all units that will be available are loaded into the system with availability dates for ordering but not the "L" at this time. Hum?"

I don't think its a rumor, I was in Winner Ford in Newark yesterday making an appointment for my L's intercooler leak and because my rear sliding window clip came off in the heat. Anyway, one of the head guys there was telling me that they are not making them for next year, and that they can barely sell the 2001's that they have now. So i asked, "are you just not ordering them here next year, or are they not making them?" He says Ford is stopping production because there is no market for them at this time. I'm glad to hear it though, makes ours even more limited production.

Hell, bought a 93, wanted a 97, had to wait until 99. Now have a 99, want an o3 and probably will have to wait till 05. This motor will never last that long. Guess it's good I bought the 100k warranty. Tipical Ford Bull*****. Get greddy, flood the market, complain about poor sales, give up. The 05 will probably have an electric motor--no whine, no roar, no soul.

Maybe GM will finally make the SS truck.

Now a LightningR would get me going! Going straight to Ford to trade in the 01. Hey SVT, you listening?

I second the vote for the Lightning R That would bring me running in with wallet open also.

As for stopping production, I hope they stop and wait till like 04 and make it all that much better. Like 450 HP and 500 ft/lbs that would be kick *** and maybe lighten her up a little like 4000 pounds or less.

I would have to have one of those.

Lightning R. NOT. I don't think you'd like an F-150 Xl with NO A/C, NO RADIO, NO NOTHING, and a 75,000 price. Don't give me that 55k BS. All the 300 Cobra Rs sold for a minimum of 20k over window sticker and all major mags that reviewed that dog when compared to a corvette said they would take the corvette and we all know what we'd take when comparing one of those slow vettes to our trucks. When I raced one in practice at my local sstrip one announcer said wow watch that vette beat that truck. and the other announcer, who knew better said, Noels gonna whip his butt, and of course I did.

Ford needs to keep the production down at 4K a year and continue to refine the vehicle instead of stopping for three years and then having to start all over.

Cool

I'm not to concerned.
I'm pretty sure I'll be able to pick up a 01 L somewhere in the spring if there are no 02's
If not I guess I'll go with the Cobra

I would get a 2000L or 2001L and if you really want a cobra wait until '03 when they have slated to change the lineup.
