L on Car & Driver TV Sunday
Don't know if it was a re-run of the episode that was on Speed Vision a few weeks ago or not but it was that Jim Scoutin guy on TNN destroying some F1's in a '01 Lightning. Good show.
If anybody knows if this episode will be played again, please post. was it a new 2001 review or was it an older show covering a 99-00 model L???

It was on the '01. I'm sure they bought new tires after filming that show. They showed the engine and how hp/trq was up from the previous year. Also had John Colettie (sp) on it talking about how he put the "Oh Sh*t" handle on the passenger side of the '01 because his wife couldn't hang on to anything when he drove his '99. Said that was his wifes idea.
Anyway, they kept on about how there is no competition out there for it right now and how they don't see any in the future from the "other" mfg's either. I want Jim Scoutin's job!

Yes, this was a great lttile clip on the 01 L.
I have 99% made up my mind that I will buy the 02 L in the spring over the Cobra. As they sit right now the 01L is more of what I want over the 01 Cobra.
Only a substantail performance improvement in the 02 Cobra would change my mind now. I the rumored factory blower were to show up on the Cobra that would have to be considered, but the way things are now I have decided on buying the L.
Of course the enthusiastic bunch on this board helped my decision too!!
The way I see it the 01 Cobra won't out perform a 01 L with chip'n'filter and pulley unlees I add a blower. Because of my location there is no reputable tuners close by I don't think I want the headache of trying to tune an aftemarketblower myself.
This and the fact that there is only 2 or 3 L's in town here, would make it an extremely rare ride and would turn some heads making 12sec passes at the local strip!!

That was a sweet clip of the 2001. They made a pretty big deal over the ride/handling performance of the Bisteins compared with the 99/00 L's. They also recorded faster numbers for the 2001....I think 0-60 was 5.2 and 1/4 in 13.9 which beat their last Lightning. It was pretty much a tire-melting clip....I yelled at the wife to hit record on the VCR that was in the room with her.... but she didn't get it in time. Damn! I believe you can order the tape from Car and driver for around $14.

I just hope my 2001 runs and sounds that good when it gets broken in. My odometer has just rolled over to 6500 miles(should be broken in by now, you'd think) and it's still a slug, in comparison to the 2000 L I traded in....It sorta chaps my hyde that mine does not perform like thata one on the TV
