a friend of mine got a bullitt mustang this week!
his dad bought a 2001 lightning a month ago after seeing mine, and his son just had to get something too. LOL

this car is niiiiiiiiiice! it's got a good exhaust tone (like a race car), and gobs 'o' power.. not to mention good looks.

when his dad gets back from his trip to africa, he's gonna start modding the 01 lightning!
i talked him into getting a diablo chip, airaid, and bedrug.. he just wanted to get a bedcover and a ram-air hood at first.

There is a pretty good article on the Bullitt in the August Motor Trend. I like the concept of it...limited edition...subtle body mods...nice wheels. I especially like the speedo and tach that remind me of my 68 Stang. BUT, for the mods they did to the engine (cobra intake, twinbore 57mm throttle body, ported heads, high-flow exhaust...etc...) it seems like it should have gained more than 5 horsepower over a stock GT!! In the test, the car actually ran .2 sec slower to 60 than a 99 GT they tested which they attributed to low miles.

I would say if Ford is going to produce cars like the Bullitt it should be quicker, not slower than the normal production cars. At least maybe in between the GT and Cobra times....IMHO!

That totally sucks. I think the premise of a "Bullitt" Stang is awesome, now Ford has to finish it. Ford is not doing the name "Bullitt" justice. I mean; it looks goods, sounds good, come on Ford for 4K extra it should GO LIKE A BULLITT.

My buddy who used to have an '00 L bought one in May. His is green. He also had an '00 yellow GT and a green '99 GT. He said the Bullitt is noticeable quicker than both GT's he had. I like the seats and the exhaust note best. The calipers are neat too.

Jim: my friend has a '00 GT that he traded in on the Bullitt... they Bullitt is much stronger than his 00 GT was!
the fastest time i've heard for a Bullitt was a 13.8. i forget which magazine.
if that car only has 5hp more than a regular GT, it must be some strangely strong mutant hp... LOL
how much more torque does the bullitt have?

I can't remember the torque values, but it's only a negligible increase compared to the GT's. Where the difference comes into play is that the Bullitt is supposed to have a MUCH flatter curve across the band. So, the whole power band is putting out. That's where the difference is and that's why they're quicker according to him.

gforce: just going by the seat of my pants, that bullitt pulls a lot harder than his old 00 GT. plus it's nicer looking.

the bullitt is not quicker than a lightning..
