1/4 mlie--2nd time ever...01L

92 degrees, 30.05 bp, humidity?, 4,650lbs., 1/4 tank of Amoco(added can of NOS oct. boost), and 2 gals. of 100 oct. unleaded track gas. 29 psi-tires(hot). 4,800 miles.

I ran 10 passes(there were over 300 passes in total). Several ricers, Camaro lsi1s, stangs(gt & Cobras), 0ne 01L with 1200 miles(he did poorly--said his maf or iat sensor was not connected???), bikes, and full race cars & trucks.

My first pass was scary! My L broke sideways at/after launch. Had to get out of it-truck went sideways. The Cobra R running against me said it freaked him out. Needless to say, I got my *** handed to me!

Second pass I went 14.177 @101.46--the Camaro SS(?) went 13.828 @101.62. Sorry guys--I let us down--I should have beat him.My 3rd pass was at 113.828 @ 101.60(Iwas in the left lane). My opponent went 13.687 @ 104.29 and yet, the slip said "left 1st by .0592---computer glitch???

5th pass--whipped up on a Nissan Maxima--big deal.

6th pass--beat the Cobra R(he backed out because of wheel hop). Turned a 13.869 @ 101.59.

7th--had my best r/t-.554 and best 60'-2.122. beat a late model Thunderbird--bad. (btw, removed JL filter outerwear 'sock' and lowered tail gate)

8th--ran a 13.697 @ 102.38(temp down to 84F). Beat a Stang GT at 14.954 @92.23.

Beat another Cobra R. I ran 13.783 @ 102.36 to his 14.856 @ 95.67 for the 9th pass.

10th was my best run--79F(air temp, bp @30.05, 9:45pm) Beat another Stang GT conv. I ran a 1/8 @ 8.831(best that nite), 1/4 at 13.617 @ 102.79(r/t-.591).

Not as good as last Fri. nite--but still a good time!

I only know the yr. of the R i ran against in my 9th run. Nice kid(Chis Hunter?); he said it was a 99 Anniversary(or something like that?) He ran a r/t of 1.022, 60' @ 2.550, 1/8 @ 9.712, & the 1/4 @ 14.856 @ 95.67.

I'm sure this wasn't a representative time for his R--he said "this was his first 'strip' race--had many 'street' races."

My 1st run was against a R that ran the 1/4 in 15.897 @100.24 when I lost it at the launch. He said he got out of it too when he saw me sideways.

My 6th run was against another R. He backed off --told me later his rear wheels were hopping. His time was way low.

That was a big Typo on the "113.xxx" time!

Sounds like my first 2 runs yesterday...

860.1 Miles on ODO. 100% Stock Trim Etc.

---

Run #1 Sat 1 hour after 300 Mile Drive
1/2 Tank of Gas

Temp 97

700--

R/T ... .943
60' ... 2.343
330 ... 6.118
1/8 ... 9.194
MPH ... 79.50
1000 ... 11.899
1/4 ... 14.215
MPH ... 97.17

Run #2 Hot-Lap

Temp 98

700--

R/T ... 1.051
60' ... 2.083
330 ... 5.915
1/8 ... 9.060
MPH ... 78.54
1000 ... 11.779
1/4 ... 14.076
MPH ... 98.17

Had some problems - Either Trans noise from overfill, or Pulley Noise. I know I could have hit 13.8's with better R/T and 60' if it would have cooled down. I had so much rubber from the other cars tires on mine that it was pathetic. Most of it came off on the way home, except on the outsides.

second thoughts....

I ran better(see sig) last fri. I know, there could be other variables, but I think I will try and replicate last fri's situation.

I had 3/8 to a 1/2 a tank of 93 amoco. I added the nos and race gas to prevent detonation(my street chip wouldn't take advantage of the higher oct.). My L weighed 4,675 a week ago(extra gas) and it weighed 4,650 this time.

I had lower psi in the tires the first time-25 vs. 28 cold. I did a dry 2 sec. burnout this time while last fr., i just rolled up to the lights-no burnout the that nite.

I have tried to follow the different suggestions everybody has posted about drag racing the 01s with stock tires but, some of them didn't seem to work for me.

I know the air temp. and the humidity was different. I'm going to keep on trying and keep the L's reputation high here in middle Ga.
