99/00 owners with paint coming off thier wheels at the top of spokes....

My dealer told me today that this common problem is in fact under warranty until 3 yr/36k. I have the option of a repaint which is guaranteed for 12 months/12k miles or replacement wheels.

Anyone know where one can send their factory wheels and get credit for them towards the chromed ones???

Jim,

mine are doing this also....

I'd really like to get mine powdercoated like Zorprime did, only in Red. His are white to match his truck and they look awesome.

Three of mine did the same thing, and Caka has also had the same problem. As far as I'm concerned this is like the leaking intercoolers. Until they redesign or improve the part in some way to prevent recurrence, they're simply replacing a defective part with another equally defective part. I'm hard pressed to see how they can limit the warranty period on known defective parts.

Mine is doing that too It looks like brake dust built up on the top part of the spoke. Let us know if you replace them or get them refinished.

Mine too have the paint coming off. I thought not enough on in the first place.

these could/should have been powdercoated in production.

There is a company in town that powdercoats light posts for cities in FL...Guess they don't want them looking like our wheels after two years.

I am thinking of trading towards chrome ones. Anyone know where to get them? Tirerack has them for $335 each, but I doubt if they accept trade credit.

me too :(

Mine are doing this as well, I was thinking that since it surely will happen again, I may wait awhile before I try to get them replaced.

Am I correct in that just like the intercooler, the 2000 wheels have not changed since we got them new?

Here is a thought, if this doesn't seem to be happening a year from now on 2001 wheels, how about getting those as replacements under the warranty? I don't like them as much, but if the paint stays on them, maybe it would be an option with a decent dealers support.

Maybe this is why the spoke style was changed for 01???

What about the dealer or service center?

Anyone think we could talk them into taking our 'defective' wheels, getting us the Ford Motorsport chrome wheels, and then we would pay the difference?

That's the route I'm planning to try once I actually get to dealing with the problem...
